No issue. Just want to thank Park & Rec for following through on their promise to post advance notice of ceramic firing and possibility of smoke impacting pickleball play (Ref issue #15747283). Also, I heard that the ceramics folk used a different firing method that didn't create the smoky conditions that happened Dec 2023. At the time we used the pickleball courts on 3/7, we were able to play unimpeded. I hope that both the advance notice and the alternate firing method will continue on their next firing. Thank you Park & Rec and ceramics folk!

Courts 2, 3, 5, 6 have nets where the net cord cover is fraying or sheared off the net cord. Photo shows complete shearing on Court 6 net. Court 5 net cord cover has been taped up in certain spots. Court 1 and 4 cord covers show signs of thinning. With upcoming scheduled tournaments and events, we'd appreciate if a durable repair or replacement can be done as soon as possible.

On 12/13/2023 at 1:30pm, the Rec Center Ceramics participants where working an open fire pit in Rec Center patio. Thick acrid and plastic smelling smoke billowed out and wafted through the Rec Center parking lot and settled on the pickleball & tennis courts. The smoke was black and grey and created a haze in the sky. We were playing on the pickleball courts and were forced to leave because the smoke triggered tears in our eyes, and burning sensation in our nose and eyes. Other players couldn't breathe and it triggered a sinus headache and scratchy throat in me. I don't understand how the City allowed this unhealthy condition to impact the environment and especially in a densely populated area. No fire engines responded (I guess they were notified) and the public was not warned at all. Please work with the Ceramics people and find a way to have them fire their products in a less public instrusive way. I'm told they do open pit firing every 6 months.

The pickleball courts have been slippery for the last 6+ months. Can we have them regularly power washed? The leaf blowing does remove surface debris, but not the fine dust that coats the courts.
I have observed and have had reports of players having near-falls and falls as they push off their feet to move to the ball. Two weeks ago, I lost my footing due to the slipperyness and went down. I have observed other players have near-slips and falls. Today's clinic, one player lost his footing and fell. Lucky most of the players have a good sense of balance to regain their footing or fell without apparent injury. I am hearing from other players who have experienced the slipperyness or observed others losing their footing. Thank you in advance for resolving this hazard.

    Related to ##14456601.
There are more users on the pickleball courts than typically on a tennis court (can be 48-60 players). With each player bringing in their own gear bag, there is no room on the benches to store their bags to keep them off the ground. The players resort to taking advantage of the tears in the wind screen to hang their bags. Should the windscreens be replaced, it would be good to install a bar or grid wall containing well-spaced hooks to discourage tearing the windscreen to access the fence to hang bags. Alexander Park in Belmont installed their windscreens on the outside of the courts, allowing exposure of the chain link fence to inside courts and ample hanging space. We hope this request can be considered with Request #14456601.

The windscreens at the Pickleball courts are torn (large and small tears) in numerous places. Would like the windscreens be replaced with ones that have windows like at Edgewater Park. The courts are host to many pickleball tournaments during the year and spectator viewing is obstructed. FC Pickleball Club can advise on placement of windows.

Please fix the aim of the lights on the pickleball courts. The middle courts (Court 2 & 5) are not equally lighted as the end courts. In fact, the bench seats get the brightest light. For playability and safety on the courts, the lights need to be equally dispersed across all 6 courts. Attached is where the lights are aimed currently. Thank you.

Pickleball net Court 4 is torn and needs replacement. When courts reopen, please have new or repaired net in place. If ordering new net and it has not arrived by reopening, please leave old net up in the interim, so that the other courts don't get overcrowded. Appreciate your assistance in this regard. Thanks!

Regarding Pickleball court #6. The bottom of the fence next to skateboard park has a large hole that allows the balls to escape the courts. Please repair the hole. Even tho the courts will be resurfaced soon and may include fence repair, we will appreciate the hole being repaired at least temporarily, and then permanently during court resurfacing.

Pickleball court 4: please repair/replace netting that is tearing off the top net tape. There is now a large gaping hole. It will continue to shear off with repeated impact of the ball during play.
In total, there are 3 pickleball nets in need of immediate repair, court 3, 4 and 6. Request for court 3 and 6 submitted separately.

Large sign for COVID requirements is missing from pickleball court.

Also pickleball entrance gate is chained open (cannot close it), which allows balls from Court 3 to escape outside the court to the street and parked cars. The tennis gate next door is unchained and allowed to shut. Pickleball gate needs to ability to shut as well during open hours.

COVID rules say courts are closed Fri 3pm thru Sunday. The entrance gates have been observed to be chained open 24 x 7. This practice is inconsistent with COVID rules (https://www.fostercity.org/parksrec/page/foster-city-pickleball)== hours mentioned halfway down webpage.
