  • Broadway And Martin Luther King Jr. Albuquerque, New Mexico - Broadway Central

    In MLK bike lane heading east, just east of Broadway. Eastbound bus encroached in the lane, its mirror two or three feet from my helmeted head.

    Time: 7:40 a.m.
    Bus route number: 50
    Bus number: 628

    This is the second time this has happened to me at this spot.

  • Constitution And Girard Albuquerque, New Mexico - Summit Park
    WB on Constitution, in the left turn lane -> SB Girard, loop detector did not detect bicycle.
  • Cutler And Washington Albuquerque, New Mexico - Albuquerque
    Westbound on Cutler at Washington. Loop detector did not detect bicycle. Waited for an eastbound car to trip the light, which it did, but only the eastbound traffic got a green light. Westbound never got a green light.
  • Pan American Freeway And North Diversion Channel Bicycle Trail Albuquerque, New Mexico - Albuquerque
    Hope this isn't too late, but the sign providing advance notice of the impending closure of the North Diversion Channel bike trail is in the wrong place to notify northbound trail users. It's on the little spur between the frontage road and the main trail - a spur that almost no one uses - and is not visible to northbound riders on the main trail. This is likely a Parks Department issue.
  • Campus And Girard Albuquerque, New Mexico - Campus
    Eastbound Campus Boulevard at Girard, the loop detector does not detect bicycles. In this morning's case I was in the left-turn lane, turning onto northbound Girard.
  • Campus And Monte Vista Albuquerque, New Mexico - Nob Hill
    Eastbound on Campus at Monte Vista, loop detector failed to detect bicycle.
  • Alvarado And Central Albuquerque, New Mexico - Albuquerque
    Route 11 bus ran red HAWK light at Alvarado and Central
    6:30 a.m.
    Bus #613
  • Indian School And Carlisle Albuquerque, New Mexico - Summit Park

    One of the greatest dangers for bicyclists, and one of the greatest impediments to expanding access to new bicyclists, is the small but important subset of angry motorists who don't think cyclists should be on the road.

    Given this problem, the city's decision to require cyclists to use the car lane the Indian School crossing of Carlisle, rather than the adjacent bicycle lane, seems problematic. (see case #180529-000166 herein for details - https://seeclickfix.com/issues/4598608-westbound-vehicle-a-bicycle-still-not-getting-green-light). But if that's the only way for cyclists to get a green light at this intersection, we need a green "bike box" painted on the pavement so a) cyclists know that's where they need to be to trigger the light, and b) so motorists will understand that bikes are *supposed* to be out in the car lane rather than over by the edge of the road in what is currently called a "bike lane".

  • Girard And Central Albuquerque, New Mexico - University Hts
    Southbound at Girard and Central on a bicycle, did not get a green light. Northbound traffic (two cars, one headed straight, one making a left turn onto Central) got a green, but then the traffic light sequenced back to green for east-west traffic without ever giving me a green. I was in the car lane, over the loop detector (there is no bike lane at this point).
  • Copper And San Mateo Albuquerque, New Mexico - Highland

    The bag on the bicycle detection sign at Copper and San Mateo westbound alerting us that the bicycle detection isn't operational has been removed.

    Bicycle loop detection still does not work.

  • Rancho Seco And Central Albuquerque, New Mexico - Albuquerque

    Just refreshing my request of two months ago - case #180507-000029 - regarding the cycle track on Rancho Seco between Central and Lomas.

    This is literally a system of traffic signage and stripage that, *by design*, brings cyclists using the cycle track into a head-on collision with traffic turning both right from EB Lomas and left from WB Lomas onto Rancho Seco.

  • Carlisle And Indian School Albuquerque, New Mexico - Summit Park

    See case #180529-000166

    Westbound on Carlisle in the bicycle lane. Oncoming (eastbound) traffic got a green light for both through and left turn movements, but westbound never got a green, it just cycled back to green for north-south traffic.

    In response to the previous case number, y'all closed it with: "Increased signal vehicle detection sensitivity."

    Is there a loop detector in the bike lane? If not, per ordinance R-2015-045:

    "Include a through phase for all traffic signal timing plans at signalized intersections on roadways having designated bicycle networks."

    Bike should get a through signal as part of the intersection light sequencing.

  • Central And Solano Albuquerque, New Mexico - Se Heights

    In followup to case #180607-002018, this is a request to turn on the HAWK light, newly built for the A.R.T. system, at Central and Solano.

    Per response to previous request in case #180607-002018, these should be on. On this one, the light is still bagged and there's a barricade discouraging pedestrians from using it.

  • High Street And Central Albuquerque, New Mexico - Huning Highland Historic District
    Given that it's going to be, like, forever, before we actually have A.R.T. buses running along Central, can we have the HAWK lights turned on in the interim? This has already been done in Nob Hill, makes crossing the street much safer. The HAWK at Central and Walter, in front of The Grove, is a great candidate. Lots of pedestrian activity in the neighborhood, a safer crossing would be a nice step toward reducing our plague of pedestrian injuries and deaths, especially since we've already spent the money on the light.
  • Indian School And Carlisle Albuquerque, New Mexico - Summit Park

    WB on Indian School at Carlisle, on a bicycle, in the bike lane. EB traffic, making a left turn onto NB Carlisle, got a green light, but the light immediately sequenced back to green for N-S traffic on Carlisle without ever giving WB traffic a green light.

    This is in conflict with ordinance R-2015-045:

    "Include a through phase for all traffic signal timing plans at signalized intersections on roadways having designated bicycle networks."

  • Zuni And Central Albuquerque, New Mexico - South Los Altos

    As Zuni makes the eastbound-to-northbound bend at Central, the bicycle lane shifts to the middle of the street. There appears to be no loop detector, and the signal is not sequenced to give cyclists a green light, forcing them to either wait for a car, cross against traffic to get to the pedestrian button on the SW corner, or run the red light.

    This is not consistent with:

    * R-2015-045, the Bikeways and Trails Facilities Plan, which calls for "bicycle-sensitive actuation capability such as loop detectors, video detection" etc at all bike lane intersections, and which all specifically calls for a through phase for all traffic signal timing plans at signalized intersections on roadways having designated bicycle networks. The BTFP specifically says cyclists should not be required to dismount and press a pedestrian button.

  • Copper And San Mateo Albuquerque, New Mexico - Highland

    Bag has been removed from sign for eastbound cyclists telling them to use the loop detector to trigger the light. Loop detector still doesn't work. Possible solutions might include putting the bag back or hooking up the loop detector.

    For context, see previous reports:
    * case #180301-002202
    * case #180123-000115

  • Lomas And Rancho Seco Albuquerque, New Mexico - Downtown
    I was almost hit by a car yesterday turning right from EB Lomas to SB Rancho Seco. I was riding a bicycle NB on the new "cycle track" bike lane created to divert bikes off of Central. The new lanes put bikes on the left side of Rancho Seco, heading north, directly in the path of oncoming traffic turning right off of Lomas. There are no signs on Lomas to warn cars of the non-standard configuration, so people circling around to get into the Wendy's end up driving the wrong way down the bike lane with no signs to warn them not to.
  • Copper And San Mateo Albuquerque, New Mexico - Highland

    Now that the A.R.T. construction has been declared complete by the mayor, I'm wondering when we'll get the bicycle loop detectors at the Copper and San Mateo bicycle boulevard crossing hooked up and operational.

    For context, see previous reports:
    * case #180301-002202
    * case #180123-000115

  • Copper And San Mateo Albuquerque, New Mexico - Highland

    See case number #180227-000130:

    "Any requests to changes in signal timing should be submitted to Traffic."

    This is me trying to do that.

    Currently, with no loop detectors for bicycles yet installed, bicyclists have to wait for a car to get a green light east-west. Could we have the signal timing changed in the meantime so bicycles get a green light periodically? See #180123-000115 for my previous request to have this change made.

    I would like a callback. Is there a way for me to leave a phone number without having it appear publicly along with this report?
