I am writing to request help from DPW with an ongoing safety concern and delivery trucks not being able to make delivery to the Willard Street Inn. It was recommended to me to call Philip Peterson at DPW and I left voice messages on Monday 5/6 and again this morning 5/8

Specific Request for 2 “Do Not Park between Signs” on either side of Inn’s South Entrance
    • Photo Documentation - We can provide many photos of the problem with cars parking on the West side of S. Willard and extending over the Inn’s driveway blocking the entrance to deliveries and causing a true safety issue for exiting because the sight line is blocked in both directions (view to North and South)
    • Current Parking rules do not prevent this problem. City’s parking team has been very helpful with towing of the vehicles parking over the entranceway. However the high frequency of this problem happening makes towing not practical.

  • 66-120 Grove St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
I am writing about a serious traffic issue that has existed and has been ignored in Burlington for a number of years. With the emphasis on the Complete Street Plan to provide enhanced safe travel for all users, one of the most dangerous Streets has not been addressed.
What is the plan to remove on street parking from Grove Street? I recognize the need this represents to residents, but under Safe Streets Program, safety should trump parking spaces which create an ongoing travel safety issue.
Presently the existing on Street parking, beginning at the intersection with Barrett Street, represents a dangerous traffic hazard for both vehicles and bicycles. It is also used by truck traffic which compounds the problem. It has always been a heavily travel narrow street, but the danger has been increased by the added traffic created by the Bayberry Common Development. It is not unusual to see driver side mirrors on parked cars torn off. The road is very narrow and is compounded in the winter by the addition of snowbanks. With the emphasis on on making Burlington a safer city for pedestrians, bicycles and vehicles, why hasn’t the most obvious traffic hazard in the city been addressed?

As you are preparing our street for paving, would you please considering fixing the curb in front of our house. When the water main burst in 2015, one end sunk, and the other end went up. If you hit the curb, rather than simply bumping and over it, it does real damage to the underside of the car. Many friends and ourselves have hit it by mistake, and the results are ugly. Maybe you can level it for us?

Thanks for listening. Excited for the work to be done!

I think there is a small paved section of Briggs near Petrocliffs that the street sweeper is missing. The one resident down there is asking for some attention to potholes and street sweeping there. Hope we can get someone down there soon.

27 Roseade Pkwy Burlington, VT, 05408, USA - Burlington Electric
Hello. I saw an article on FPF about the work that is scheduled in my neighborhood this summer and I had a question. I live at 27 Roseade and there is a section of sidewalk that has essentially been collapsing so that the sidewalk plow driver gets a real jolt if he's going too fast. The depression (obviously) collects water and becomes either a small ice skating rink when the temps are below freezing, or a monster-sized puddle when they're not. The depression continues toward the road through the median strip and curb. I'm wondering if that will be addressed somewhere in the process of the work on the water mains and repaving or if that's a project for another time?
