Do you think we could get a plow or salt truck down our street to alleviate the sheet of ice on our street. We've already seen cars sliding attempting to turn in their driveways.

Since when is the City allowing the use of straw bales for fencing? Has there been a permit issued ? Not to mention some of these bales are likely encroaching our property. And it appears there are more bales awaiting placement along our fence.
But the larger concern is that these bales a likely to draw rats, as they a placed directly on the ground, and not elevated as required for the storage of materials outside.
There would seem to be a number of City Codes that the placement of these bales would violate, not to mention the "recommendations" the City has issued regarding rats. Having already eliminated a number of rats this year, including 5 within one week, this looks to be an invitation to a deluxe rat bed and breakfast. Insulated burrows and available dog waste all in one place.
You would think a household where a City Planning Commissioner lives would know better. But then again, regard for our property has been non-existent.

    How do I prevent rodents?
    Take away their food:

Rodents will eat anything—to remove rats, you must remove their food source. Common food sources include:
    • Garbage
    • Bird food/feeders
    • Pet food/chicken feed
    • Pet waste
    • Fallen fruit from trees or unharvested produce from gardens
Keep them out of your house:

Rats can fit through a space the size of a quarter or smaller. Small openings in homes, buildings, and sheds must be sealed to prevent rodents from entering. Check for openings where pipes or wires enter the building, under eaves, around foundations and crawl space entrances, and near doors and windows. Use cement, 1/4-inch steel hardware cloth (wire mesh), or steel wool and spray foam to seal openings.
Keep them out of your yard:
Don’t let your yard be a nesting zone for rodents. Rats will nest in:
    • Outdoor piles of garbage and junk.
    • Underwood piles or lumber—stack woodpiles 18 inches off the ground.
    • Under blackberry bushes, shrubs, vines, and tall grasses that are not trimmed or cut back.
    • Holes under buildings that haven’t been filled

    Section 24-54 Fence definition:
Fence. A structure erected to act as a boundary marker or erected for the purpose of restricting access to or from a lot or parcel of land, whether enclosing all or part of the lot or parcel.
Section 24-189, paragraph 2 : Fences shall be constructed of posts sunk in the soil at least 42 inches with boards, wire or other suitable material,
Section 10-25, paragraph 1: 1. Salvage or storage material shall be stored on a platform at least 18 inches above the ground at all times so that it cannot serve as a harbor for rats or other vermin

Water issues - water was not functioning . Was there a water main problem? Water just restarted . Based on reports from Camborne , this seems to be a city wide situation.

One has to ask the question about what a snow emergency is in our City. We received at least 8 inches of snow on Friday yet the emergency is declared on Saturday at 7am thru Sunday 7 pm. By the time the plow shows up we had all the snow from after the Superball storm plowing , or over a foot on the road, and of course the plow can't clear it all leaving the road four to five feet narrower with the snow curbs. But then, in their infinite wisdom the "declaration" says people can return their vehicles to being parked on the street after a plow comes thru. Really, it was still snowing on Saturday during the declared emergency and the cars were back on the narrowed street by 3pm Saturday. Basically the City gave them permission despite the declared emergency. No wonder parking scofflaws exist during these events.

    West Oakridge - dead end

We have had two additional snowfalls since the Superball Sunday storm, and have yet to see a plow return since the Monday morning event. With more snow expected late Thursday and all day Friday, is the City going to wait until the road has six more inches of snow before it returns, or will it address the four or more inches we had in the last two days before then?

Per the City website, a snow emergency was declared yesterday and not removed. We have had the plow down twice, and yet the parked cars from yesterday have never been cited. Our street is a dead end, and the parked cars make plowing spotty, leaving a narrow corridor for ingress and egress, yet the same scofflaws seem to get away with their selfish practices time and time again.
Tomorrow the garbage trucks will be picking up here: if they can get past the parked cars!
