Travelling southbound I was stopped by the light turning red, fair enough, but after it gave a green to the (non-existent) east-west traffic it switched to the pedestrian scramble mode despite there being zero pedestrians. Non had been there to press the button.

The major risk to cyclists here is the sign in the bike lane that warns cyclists of the bike lane being closed ahead.
This sort of hazard is not uncommon in Encinitas. I could send several pictures of other occurrences.
I did ask a worker once why he placed it there and he told me he had to by law. If that's the case, then there really should be a sign before this one warning cyclists of the dangerous warning sign slap bang in the middle of the bike lane.

looks like a PVC pipe buy it's actually cast iron.
I moved it out of the lane.

Multiple holes in the road surface. IMO this entire street is overdue to be resurfaced.

This tricky section is a minefield for cyclists, and getting worst. I have to actively steer a course through the worst section. This while trying to maintain lane control. Maybe one day the entire junction will be paved, but until that day can it at least be patched?

longitudinal cracks are the worst type for cyclists. This one is right in the middle of the bike lane.

Finally the work under the freeway on the south side is complete, and now it's started on the North side. However this has left us pedestrians who live just on the east side no way to get under the 5.
my wife and/or I walk under there most days to get to the Hospital or the coast, or the shops. I'd cross to the South side of Santa Fe but there's no light and signs saying no pedestrian crossing.
The South side took a year to complete.
I'm hoping the city has something planned for here as currently it's not pretty what I see other pedestrians doing.
    Thanks

Although not an acute risk, this seemingly abandoned project as Santa Fe goes under the I-5 has been a hazard for cyclists for far too long.
I ride it every day and have to dodge holes and gaps in the road, all while putting up with impatient drivers who I'm holding up since they can't get by me (eastbound), and the road is too rough to risk letting them by.

Meanwhile the road surface continues to decline.

Can something not be done to revive this project? or at least repave this short section it until a long term solution can be worked out?
I believe the idea was to IMPROVE it for cyclists and pedestrians. But for ~ a year it's been far worse than if it had never been touched.
I'm hoping now they aren't planning on "fixing" the west-bound side as we walk that frequently and wouldn't want to lose that ability. to get to the West side of the freeway.
    Thank you.

As expected after the recent rains, so just wanted to make sure that clearing this was on your radar.

All along the 101 northbound in leucadia cyclists are swerving out into the traffic Lanes.
Of course they are often not looking back first, but nothing we can do about that
    thanks

Not sure if this is a City issue, but hopefully it can be fixed while the cost is just replacing the missing bolt, and not an entire set of stainless steel steps.

This "no parking here to corner" is ambiguous as there is a corner just before it and just after it.
One of these vehicles are illegally parked but I can't tell which one.

This problem seems to get worse every year by Cardiff beach, both north and south bound.
I call the Sheriffs and they do coffee and ticket the cars, but as soon as those leave others take their place. So although we raise ticket revenue, it doesn't solve the problem of cyclists getting forced out into the traffic lanes and having car doors opened on them. The later is a particular problem when they park just partially on the bike lane as most cyclists will try to squeeze through what's left.

Options to solve the problem may include: Far more obvious signs. Painting the bike lane green with NO Parking painted all along it.
A full-time ticketing officer there at weekends. Placing a small fence starting from the Kraken so cars can't even try to park to the right of the bike lane (= how it starts). Removing one lane so there's room for parking and a buffered bike lane (however, at Torry Pines beach cars use the bike lane for waiting for a parking spot to open).

I'm happy to meet to discuss this.
    Thanks

Myself and others had reported this sinkhole many months ago. i think so long that it's dropped off the list on this site.
But it was never fixed, and keeps getting deeper. Certainly deep enough to through a cyclist who might have one arm off the handlebars to indicate their intention to turn left onto Melba
