  • Christopher Columbus Dr & Jersey Ave Jersey City, New Jersey, 07302 - Downtown
I reported this back in June of this year. Now the “no turn on red” sign at the southwest corner of Jersey and Columbus is completely obscured by foliage.
  • 1st St & Washington St Jersey City, New Jersey, 07302 - The Waterfront
A tow truck from ABC Towimg was making a right turn onto Washington Street and knocked the street sign over. It’s on the ground in pieces.he looked back and then hauled out quickly.
  • 296 Varick St Jersey City, New Jersey, 07302 - Downtown
A few houses seem to have been skipped during last night’s trash pickup: there are bags outside of 292, 296, and 298 Varick between Montgomery and York.
  • 292 Varick St Jersey City, New Jersey, 07302 - Downtown
Bottles and cans weren't picked up from the block of Varick between Montgomery and Jersey. The street is blocked off by cones (sewer replacement), but to date, that hasn't interfered with garbarge or recycling pickup, and papers were picked up last night.
  • Jersey Ave & Christopher Columbus Dr Jersey City, New Jersey, 07302 - Downtown
As you can see, the No Turn on Red sign at the southwest corner of Jersey Avenue & Christopher Columbus Drive is completely obscured by tree branches. That intersection is such a busy (and dangerous) one, and this isn't helping.
  • Jersey Ave & Christopher Columbus Dr Jersey City, New Jersey, 07302 - Downtown
The "No Turn On Red" sign at the southwest corner of Jersey Avenue and Christopher Columbus Drive is obscured by tree branches, creating hazardous driving conditions at a very busy intersection.

The three enormous oak trees along the western side of my house (on Varick Street) need to be trimmed back, please. Whenever there's a storm, branches snap off, and there are branches hanging over the top of my roof and continually dropping debris -- branches, acorns, and leaves -- on the roof that requires the gutters to be cleared constantly. We also had a carpenter ant infestation and were advised to make sure the branches don't reach the house to avoid this happening again.
  • 610 Washington Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07310, USA - The Waterfront
There are eight dead trees located in front of 610 Washington Boulevard. They've been dead for many months and are in danger of toppling over in a storm. It's also unsightly, but that's another issue entirely.
  • 610 Washington Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07310, USA - The Waterfront
There are a number of dead trees in front of 610 Washington Boulevard -- a few live ones are mixed in -- but there are at least a half dozen dead trees there that should be removed and replaced.

There's an enormous nest -- hornets, I think, though they may be wasps -- in a tree located on the Northeast corner of York and Varick. The nest is in a branch of the tree directly in front of 340 York Street and there are swarms of insects flying around. I don't know a lot about insects, but I fear that this nest could fall, which would be a horror show. Help?
  • Montgomery St & Varick St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
The trash can located at the southeast corner of Montgomery and Varick Streets is overflowing. People consistently dump bags of household trash and recyclables there, and there’s loose trash stuck below the liner that’s been sitting there rotting for ages. Both cans on the corners of Montgomery and Varick — north and south sides — could use a thorough emptying.
  • 338 York St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Cardboard and paper wasn't collected last night: there are a few bags on the sidewalk outside of the house, which is on York between Varick & Jersey.
  • 355 Grand St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
There's a terrible smell emanating from the sewer at the corner of York and Varick Streets: a number of neighbors have remarked on it -- it smells like something rotten (or dead) is trapped in the sewer.
  • York St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Serious caterpillar infestation all over the neighborhood. A few trees directly in front of 457 Jersey have branches encased in their webs, and trees along York Street and Varick are also getting clobbered by these destructive insects.
  • 457 Jersey Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Caterpillar infestation all along Jersey Avenue, York Street, Varick Street. Pale green caterpillars eating leaves and encasing tree branches in thick webbing. The caterpillars are also eating the plants in the gardens along those streets and killing them.
  • 340 York St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Trees along Varick Street side of the house are terribly overgrown and need to be trimmed back. Branches are hitting roof and side of house whenever there's rainy/windy weather.

Sorry for posting about this again, but I just tried calling the city's Construction Office to speak with someone, got transferred to another agency, got transferred again, and was ultimately sent to the automated switchboard, where I was prompted for a name before I could get patched through to someone. It was a total waste of time. The tremors caused by the pile driver are worse today than they were yesterday. When public meetings were held about this project, we were assured they would be using helical piles. Now there's a pile driver pounding away and shaking our houses to the point where the dishes in my kitchen cabinets are audibly rattling. Can someone please look into this? This is really unnerving.

Every time there's a storm, a bunch of these branches come down. There are some enormous dead branches that will likely come crashing down once the fall/winter weather comes. Best to take these branches down now before there's an accident.
