Please red stripe and put no parking signs adjacent to the bike lanes. Costco shoppers frequently park in the bike lane. Tx!

Two years ago, the City did a good thing and lowered the speed limit to 15 mph around some of our schools, in some (but not all) areas. Why, then, is there 25 mph markings on the street right in front of West (and other) School? This is confusing and probably discourages drivers from slowing down. The confusing markings probably also makes it impossible for the Police to enforce a 15 mph speed limit. Note that there are at least four places with 25 mph markings on Barbara.

I wanted to alert you to a dangerous condition on Southdown Road. As you probably know, there has been construction ongoing at 1217 Southdown Road for several years now. Residents have had to deal with wide work trucks frequently blocking 1+ lanes, often on blind corners.

For the past few days, there has been a 12-18" deep trench where the gutter/shoulder used to be. This is extremely dangerous, especially considering the narrow width of the road, hairpin turn, and frequency of vehicles traveling in the oncoming lane. I would guess that the lane is less than 7' wide in spots, clearly insufficient for two vehicles to pass safely head on. If a cyclist were to fall into this ditch, they would suffer serious injury.

I hope that the Town demonstrates its commitment to its residents' safety and demands that this resident immediately fix this situation; if not, perhaps the road needs to be closed to one direction of traffic so that no one is hurt.

Here are some pix of the site, but I encourage you to stop by and see for yourself: https://photos.app.goo.gl/1xMi5tEFiW5ARqVZ7

This PGE utility box cover is cracked and has holes in it. It is a danger to pedestrians, who could have their foot go through the hole and deep into the box. It is on a carpad so another car parking on this could also increase the danger.

    Hello,

I am writing to request that improved signage be installed in this location to adequately warn drivers of the danger of the upcoming road danger and require them to reduce their speed to safely navigate it.

The upcoming section of road is extremely dangerous given the sharp curves, downhill slope, hidden driveways, and narrow road. Currently, a high percentage of drivers fail to stay within their lane while heading downhill here as they do not slow down sufficiently to make the sharp turn within their lane. This results in several near head on collisions.

Last night, a driver approached the turn at a high rate of speed and crashed through our fence and into our courtyard. A few more feet and they would have plowed into our living room and/or 200' into the canyon. If I had been walking my dog or backing out of my driveway, I might not be here now. Here is a video of the incident: https://youtu.be/hCaQe2c31Gk

Please improve the pictured signage ASAP. First, the current signage indicates a right turn first. This is incorrect. The road curves aggressively to the left. This sign would be more appropriate: https://www.amazon.com/Curvy-Road-Warning-Sign-Warranty/dp/B00J9D1QPC

Second, there needs to be a slow down or speed limit sign. There used to be a 15 mph sign there but it was removed. Did the City remove this?

Given that many drivers do not obey signs, I request that the City install a speed hump at his location. This is the only way to effectively slow down traffic prior to the downward slope increasing at the sharp turn. This will also reduce the amount of traffic that uses Southdown Road as a cut through to lower Hillsborough instead of the safer and less residential Black Mountain (which requires a bit more distance to access).

Please let me know how the City plans on responding. Thanks for keeping our families safe on these dangerous roads.

Southdown Rd & View Haven Rd Burlingame, CA, 94010, USA - Hillsborough
4-5 inch deep pot hole on View Haven next to the (upper) intersection with Southdown Road. Long and narrow - if a cyclist hits this their wheel will lock and they will go over the bars and get badly injured.
  • 1010 San Raymundo Rd Burlingame, CA, 94010, USA - Hillsborough
Travelling southbound on Hillsborough Blvd, approaching the triangle at San Raymundo Rd (not North San Raymundo), it is difficult to see the stop sign due to vegetation prior to the stop sign, on the right side of the road.
  • 452 Roblar Ave Burlingame, CA, 94010, USA - Hillsborough
We need an"Oncoming traffic does not stop" sign here, for cars stopping on Roblar at the Santa Inez intersection. Santa Inez traffic heading toward ECR does not need to stop here. This is not intuitive, however, to traffic stopped on Roblar. They may assume that the oncoming traffic will stop before veering left, across the Roblar intersection, toward ECR. Even cars that stop on Roblar assume that they have the right of way vs. oncoming traffic.

Heading south on Black Mtn. to the intersection with Southdown, drivers can choose not to bear right to continue on Black Mtn. They can instead bear left to the intersection with Southdown and Bengloe. For some reason there is no stop sign or line before these drivers turn onto Southdown or continue onto Bengloe. I had a near collision yesterday as a driver flew through this intersection and I continued from Black Mountain eastbound onto Southdown. Please install a stop sign here as the dirvers heading east or west should have the right of way. Tx!
  • 1231-1239 Southdown Road Hillsborough, California - Hillsborough
The entire length of Southdown Road was recently striped with a single line. This means that passing is allowed. This creates a dangerous condition given the numerous hairpin turns and lack of forward visibility on this windy road. As a result, people often park on the road, forcing residents to enter the left lane to pass. This is a leap of faith as it is often impossible to see whether a car is coming head-on in the left lane. Please restripe this with a double line to encourage drivers to slow down, not park on the street, and stay in their lane. Please see the pictures.
  • 1800-1808 Black Mountain Road Hillsborough, California - Hillsborough
There is no speed limit on Black Mountain heading NW between Marlborough and Hayne. Without a speed limit sign the Police cannot enforce speeding on this street.
