This "vacant" lot has become a dumping ground. The people reconstructing/rebuilding the property at 166 have had numerous dumpsters brought in and stored in the vacant lot. About 6 months ago, Sarnago & Sons began driving a semi-truck over the historic hexagon block sidewalk and dropping off dumpsters in the vacant lot. When a dumpster gets full, they drive over the sidewalk again to drop off an empty dumpster and haul away the one that's full. The renovators then began stacking paint cans BESIDE the dumpster....so in addition to the blazing red dumpster, there's also a big pile of hazardous materials. Now furniture is being dumped in the vacant lot...there's a couch in the back of the lot and a recliner in front of the lot. Throw in a bit of overgrown vegetation and the fact that the lot is literally sliding onto the sidewalk, and VOILA - neighborhood eyesore. For a "vacant" lot that doesn't have any construction on it, it sure has a lot of construction debris/trash. I'm not sure if the owner gave their permission for dumpsters to be placed on the property, but we're all tired of looking at this mess day after day.

It looks like someone put a hex on the hex! The hexagon sidewalk between 122 and 126 17th Avenue SE could use some TLC. We have a lot of neighbors who walk on this sidewalk, and it's 100% a tripping hazard....especially for elderly folks and children. There was a big gap from a missing hexagon, so I put a broken hexagon from our backyard in its place - not sure if that made things better or worse, though! Could we get some hex help?
