Coming off the freeway heading eastbound in the morning, why are we stopped at the bottom of the aqueduct because the light is giving preference to the north and southbound vehicles even if there are no vehicles present? (This is a fairly recent change). We often have to stop fairly abruptly and wait for nothing. Why is preference given to traffic that is slower and more sparse than those coming off the freeway in order to keep things flowing? I would think trucks would be especially annoyed coming down off the aqueduct and having to stop often times for nothing. Please retime the traffic lights to cater to those coming off the freeway and then changing when an north/southbound vehicle triggers the light. It had been that way for at least 2 years before the recent change.

To get to I-215 in the early morning (4:30 am), I need to turn right onto 6200 S after driving northbound on Bangerter. I stop at 6200 on a red like everyone else but when the light turns green for thru traffic, I stay stopped because of a red right arrow to wait for those south-bounders needing to turn left. The light eventually turns green for us. A few weeks back, if there were no south-bound cars needing to turn left on 6200 S to head East, the light would turn green for us north-bounders all at the same time. For the past few weeks, the right-turn light stays red even though there are no cars turning left in either direction. It would be fine if it was just a red light because we could check and then go if it was safe, but the red arrow forces us to stop and wait for nobody. Today, something very odd happened. I had watched the lights turn green for thru traffic and watched the right-turn light stay red for a while and then finally turn green so the car waiting could turn right. I was trying to time my approach so I got there before all lights turned red but to my dismay, the right-turn light turned red as I was approaching it - and here is the kicker - while the thru traffic light remained green. WTH?? Why am I, as a right-turning vehicle which can normally turn right on a red if it's safe, required to stop with a red arrow when the rest of the northbound traffic still has a green light? This light needs some rework on the timing. Please let us turn right if there are no cars and, at the very least, please do not stop us if thru traffic is still green. Ideally, all the Northbound lights will turn green at the same time if there are no southbound cars waiting to turn left. I know it can be done because it had been done for years until just a few weeks ago.
