We're leaving Garage Sale Season, and the signs are disappearing because, well, there aren't many more garage sales. Last year, an issue was recorded because the signs are an eyesore, they distract drivers, they lead to people parking in traffic lanes to take notes, and it turned out that the City actually constructed a board on Main to be used for this (it isn't because the City apparently never enforces this sort of thing). The City Administrator proclaimed that This Would Be Addressed and closed the issue. Nothing was ever addressed.

This year, we returned the same problem: near accidents, traffic blockage and the eyesore. The City, this year, even admitted that the signs at Cedar and Boyer violate city sign ordinance. They claimed No Parking signs were the answer. They claimed the Comprehensive Plan to Create Comprehensive Plans would solve the problem. And the City Administrator, again, just closed the issue. And, once again, literally nothing has been done to actually address the problem.

I for one would like to see some actual answers.

A year ago we took issue with the heavy truck traffic on Pine street between Boyer and Division. It turns out that section of road is actually a truck route, but the City indicated they were going to see about removing that 18 year old designation. That issue appears to have disappeared, either because seeClickFix's search interface is still pretty broken, or it's been deleted by the City. Any updates on this issue?

School's back in session. 3pm on the dot, black hatchback with a kid behind the wheel turns off Division and punches it east on Pine ST. Doing probably 40+. Seems like a prime location and time for some speed enforcement. This is pretty much a daily situation during the week now.

The garage sale signs are back in play at Boyer and Cedar. 20 or 25 signs on the corner today, and traffic on Boyer was stacked up as the front 2 cars in a growing jam-up pondered the signs and took notes. I thought the city was going to do something about this. Cars slam on their brakes to look at the signs, cars stop in the middle of the road and sit there taking down addresses. The other site on Main would take all of these shenanigans out of play on two busy streets. This is annoying and unsafe.

There is a radar speed warning trailer on Boyer, but it's set to 20 mph and yet a bit far from where the school zone actually starts. It's also warning about speeds above 20 mph at all times of the day, 7 days a week (school zone is in effect 7:30-3:30 m-f). It's far enough from the zone and wrong so much of the day that drivers are starting to ignore it.

There's a 5' x 5' asphalt patch on northbound Boyer just north of Pine that seems to be sinking. Drivers are frequently veering to the other side of the road to avoid this one.

I've seen a lot of issues raised about snow removal, specifically around the use of gates to keep from blocking driveways. In general, I'd say the removal crews are doing a good job. The City Administrator stated in some of those issues that if the snow depth is more than 8 inches, the crews are instructed not to use the gates. However, it looks like we had about 3-4 inches fall on Pine Street last night, and I woke to find a 2-foot-high by 5-foot-thick berm of compressed snow and ice blocking our driveway. So it appears that either the crews think the instructions are to avoid using the gate at much smaller snow depths, or they are not adhering to that 8-inch rule. Can we get some clarity on the actual rule, and maybe get that communicated clearly out to the crews?

Sorry to post about this intersection again, but the old post was archived and, I guess, permanently closed. While I understand that there's going to be a study next year and maybe some signal changes for this location (eventually), this intersection is a complete mess when school gets out: yesterday, both directions of Pine and southbound Division were blocked because students were loitering in driveways and in the crosswalk, and were slowly crossing Division mid-block. We need some crossing guards or something for this intersection, please. This is getting ridiculous.

There isn't a traffic light here, but there probably should be. As school gets out this intersection is a mess: traffic backed up in all directions; extended groups of students in the crosswalks; drivers either turning or bolting through the intersection while ignoring pedestrians.

Increasing cases of school kids turning east on Pine off of Division and punching it, easily over the speed limit and texting or talking with the passengers (also kids) instead of paying attention to driving. Twice we've nearly been hit just walking our dogs across the street. This is occurring more or less daily now.

Especially since school ended, we're seeing a lot of vehicles on Pine street between Division and Ella traveling significantly over the speed limit -- in fact, we've seen kids behind the wheel turning off Division and gunning it eastward down pine at nearly twice the limit. We've also nearly been run over as pedestrians crossing the street by cars full of high-school age kids who don't stop, don't slow down, don't really notice that there are people in the street.
