Metal bump piece for visually impaired people before cross walk is bent and sticking up. This is a tripping hazard and could cut someone if they trip and fall on it or could cut an animal paw.
Location: corner of North Ave and Shore Rd at the corner closest to St Marks Church.

Please bring the trash cans back to the baseball dugout in Leddy Park. People drink and eat in the dugout In the winter time and make trash. On Sunday there was one bag of beer cans. On Monday there were two bags of cans. On today Tuesday, there are three bags of cans.
Perhaps you can just put a trashcan and recycle bin inside the dugout for the winter? Because people are definitely using it to get out of the rain and cold. That shouldn’t be a crime, but littering is, and let’s help people out by giving them a trashcan.

Guard rail/fence is broken. One screw undone, and the other is flexible, so the whole fence portion moves when leaned against. It is only a matter of time before somebody liens against it, and the whole thing falls, and then they pummel into the rocks and get hurt or die.
There’s also a large opening below the section of fencing, in which a small child, or even petite adults could slide under.
This has the potential to be a very serious injury and lawsuit. I believe I posted this in 2020 or 2021 about how there was a large gap under the fence. It is much worse now because it was never fixed.
I have included my foot for scale, and the fence could be pushed out further. I’m sure if I really wanted to and I kick defense. The whole thing would come undone. A small adult could easily slip and fall through and slide down the rocks

The white walk signal is not working. The red hand signal is working. If you look very closely at the walk signal, when it should be illuminated, it is faintly illuminated. But impossible for cars and pedestrians to see. Please replace bulbs or whatever needs to be replaced so the white walk signal is working.

If it’s not on your agenda, please add Plowing sidewalks on Oakland Terrace. We have a lot of walkers, both children and elderly who are walking in the street because sidewalks need to be plowed.

Looks like we were forgotten as all the nearby side streets had their sidewalks plowed.
    Thank you!

Sidewalk plows need to do another plow. They did an EXCELLENT job on Thursday, but the city plows dumped a couple slippery inches onto the sidewalks in places. Plus some residents are snow blowing their driveway snow onto the sidewalks.
This is a BIG WALKING neighborhood. Elderly people walk for exercise, kids walk to school, moms push babies in strollers, and older people walk their dogs. Parts of the sidewalks are hard to walk on and will turn to ice. DANGEROUS!

Corner of sidewalk at 71 to 95 Cumberland St.
Metal cap accidentally was removed by sidewalk plow. Not sure if this is a water cap, so please, if it is not, forward to appropriate department.
This happens quite often according to residents. One of them is getting a stick to mark the hole. Very dangerous tripping hazard.
You need to come up with a better way to secure the metal cap. Otherwise, there could injuries and a lawsuit.

Both trash cans at Waterfront Dog Park are overflowing. This has been a yearly issue once trash cans are removed from other spots and the summer help is gone.
Trash is a mix of poop bags, food packaging, cans, and misc.
I understand that there are homeless people living in this area, but some of the trash is likely from people who enjoy eating at the scenic overlooks & dog park users.
Lastly, I am thankful for people using the trash cans, but we need more frequent pick up (especially during leaf peeping/tourist season) or bring back the summer cans until Nov 1.

At approximately 8:30 PM on July 13th, I saw a car driving too fast down the dirt road that is parallel to the bike path, past the waterfront dog park, and through the urban reserve. Car stopped at a shelter in the woods.
Personally, I don’t care if people without homes camp out in the woods. If they aren’t hurting anyone and that’s the best option they have, then I will let them be. But I draw the line at people driving too fast down a dirt road when I see people going down that very same dirt road. For example, in the 10 minutes it took for me to locate the vehicle to photograph, I saw four people and one off leash dog go down that very path. That to me is a recipe for disaster.
In the slight chance the car belongs to a social services worker, they need to put VISIBLE identification on their vehicle and drive slower down the dirt road.
Why am I not calling the BPD? Because a couple months ago when I saw a car in the dark turn down that road and appeared they were going to turn off onto the ACTUAL bike path, and I had just seen a number of cyclists head in the same direction at night under DARK conditions, when I called the police not only were they rude, they were not listening to a thing I said, accused me of changing my story and lying (I was being truthful and upset by what I saw), and the BPD hung up on me multiple times. Obviously they don’t care about this issue so I am not going that route again. Thus, I am posting this publicly and in hopes that a better service can address this issue.
People shouldn’t have to break laws and live in a shelter in the woods when we have the ability to help. And we DO have that ability, whether we choose to utilize it is a different story. If this particular person needs assistance, please let me know, I have no social work training, but I will do my best to help in a way that I can.

The past two times I have walked thru the urban reserve, I couldn’t quite figure out where the strong pot smell and voices were coming from… mystery solved.
If possible, the railway may not want to leave trains here. I got the feeling that these kids or young adults were quite comfortable up there which leads me to believe it may not be their first “train ride”. They were lucky I was too far to yell at them to get down (hence the blurry photo).
  • Maple St & Pine St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric

I was unable to comment on the person who suggested replacing the 4 way stop with a traffic signal.

Burlington needs to improve the Maple St and Pine St intersection. During the late afternoon commute there is a LOT of traffic going through that intersection. This is especially pronounced in the summertime as there are a lot of events happening on Pine St.

Many drivers do not know how a 4 way stop works or just don't care. Many have a "ME ME ME" mentality. They also like to rudely HONK at you if you follow the rules of the 4-way stop and allow someone who got there first to go before you.

Furthermore, pedestrian crossing and cyclists not adhering to the 4 way stop makes it difficult to follow the protocol of a 4-way stop. As a result, people throw vehicle responsibilities and safety to the wind and just go!

Furthermore, many drivers making a right hand turn from Pine onto Maple will sneak up besides the car already navigating the intersection creating an illegal 2nd lane which makes the 4 way stop more dangerous and difficult to maneuver.

Replacing the 4 way stop with traffic signals and crossing signals for pedestrians sounds like a safe and promising solution.

Cannot see stop sign until it is too late to stop. Has been hard to see for a couple weeks, but with the spring rain you cannot fully see it until you are 2 car lengths away! Saw someone run through it and I cannot blame them as I almost did the same thing! And I KNOW it is there!
Vegetation needs to be cut WAY back. Possibly permanently remove vegetation or replace vegetation with low growing plants to avoid a repeat issue.

Large dogs are able to push the vehicle gate At the dog park and get loose. We’re talking 80 pound dogs can just push their way through the gate and get loose which I just saw!
    Please
    - put stronger latch on gate, Possibly latch at the bottom and top.
    - Fill in area under gate so dogs can’t fit under the gate
    - Ideally Reinstall or replace so that there’s not such a large gap between the two gate pieces and the bottom.
Again, I just saw an 80 pound dog squeeze through the opening of this gate. An 80 pound dog.

Please plow the full bike path. As you can see from the photos based on imprint in the snow, the majority of the people who use it in the winter are walking or biking. Yes people do use cross country skis, but they are in the minority and there’s plenty of space for them to cross country ski on the side of the plowed portion. Furthermore, as I pointed out multiple times, the majority of people who cross country ski are in an income bracket in which seeking alternative locations is affordable to them. Not so for people who are walking or biking on the path in the winter to and from work.
Given that Covid is still at large, it’s very important to maintain at least 6 feet away from people even if you are vaccinated or outside. And you can’t stay 6 feet away from other people on this narrow plowed path.

  • 2-172 Staniford Rd Burlington, VT, 05408, USA - Burlington Electric

Two large chairs have been on the Staniford road (on the side but still on pavement) for three days now. At some point someone’s going to end up hitting them as they are hard to see when it is dark and they are near a parked car.

If I could lift them and get them into my car I would get rid of them. But I don’t even know where to bring trash for free nor can they fit in my car. It is a shame that all the people who own trucks in this neighborhood haven’t been a Good Samaritan and picked them up yet. t’s not right for me to call a private company to pay to have two large chairs disposed of when I don’t even live near hear.
