The 'State Law - Stop for pedestrians within crosswalk' sign in the middle of the crosswalk spanning W Howard Ave at Drexel Ave is missing again.

It's been hit two or three times (at least), likely by larger trucks turning into or out of Drexel Ave. The crosswalk is at the top of a short rise, so it's probable that cars driving east toward Decatur don't see the crosswalk until the last minute, even more so without signage. Without it, crossing is much harder since cars don't feel the need to stop, even for people waiting at the side of the street with young kids or strollers.

Perhaps a more permanent solution could be installed? Or multiple signs (pedestrian signs either side of the street)? Or the base for the sign moved to the middle of the yellow painted median to make it less likely to be hit? Anything to make drivers more aware of the crosswalk.

    Thanks!

A month or so ago a relatively small pothole was filled in opposite #235. Since then, the problem has become significantly worse, with several larger sections of asphalt having come loose. They rock loudly when driven over, and the asphalt is beginning to break away and be distributed across the street.
