The county workers came out and opened a fire hydrant into the street, flooding it with water to see how poorly this drainage ditch drains. Now my entire street and sidewalk in front of my driveway is covered in gross rusty, dirty, muddy water and silt. No clean up of the mess they made. No cleaning the drains so water flows the way it should. I can’t even pull into my newly paved driveway without tracking rusty, muddy junk onto my nice black driveway. This is unacceptable. I will be filing formal complaints with everyone I can. I’m tired of dealing with the improperly maintained county property. I pay way too much money in taxes to be treated this way. I’m calling local news and you will be on the news as well.

I called 2 weeks ago to get the grass cut for this easement. I was supposed to be put on a schedule last year, and clearly I never was. The lady said someone would be out within 5 business days. It’s been 10 business days(14 total days), and now the grass is 5 foot tall. Every time it rains, the entire street floods. The bugs and mosquitos are awful from this constantly holding water. I’ve lived here 13 years, and I took care of this COUNTY PROPERTY for 10+ years. Countless gallons of gas from mowing. Countless lawnmower blades from all of the rocks the county put in place to SLOW the drainage. I’m tired of it. Last rain storm my garage got 2 inches of water in it! Who do I send the bill to for all of my damaged belongings? Please, let’s handle this. Otherwise I’m paying to have it mowed down and covered in asphalt. I can’t have my house or garage flooding from county negligence. This has been an issue for as long as I’ve lived here (14 years) and nothing has been done!

Weeded county lot. Hasn’t been cut this year. Floods the whole street every time it rains.

10 years later, same old issue. County easement is completely clogged. Unkept. Causes major backup into the street. This is a safety issue. Water is 6-8 inches deep all the way across 1st Ave West! How is this acceptable? No one has been out to take care of this land in over 6 months. We need a solution, NOW. This ditch gathers trash, tons of water and is a cesspool for bugs and mosquitoes. This latest storm almost flooded my basement!

This is a county owned drainage ditch. I’m not taking care of it anymore. The grass has been over 18” tall for 3 weeks. The road is blocked by water. The mosquitoes are running rampant and no one cares.

This is my wife’s car parked in front of the entrance to our driveway. The water is up to the bumper! The huge splash behind is from a car driving by. There are no storm drains on this street, so there’s nowhere for the water to go except in my driveway. The grass in this county neglected drainage ditch has been over 18” tall for more than 2 weeks now. I placed a clickfix ticket for the grass to be cut, and no one cuts the grass. The mosquitos are out of control. The flooding water is threatening my garage. Who do I have to speak with to get this problem taken care of?

It’s funny how the county can issue fines for anyone’s private property whose grass is over 12” tall, but it’s okay for this drainage ditch, which is COUNTY PROPERTY, for the grass to CONSTANTLY be well over 18 INCHES TALL! Please take care of this.

Grass is over 20 inches tall. Any time it rains, the whole street and my whole driveway floods with 7-8 inches of water. In the 10+ years of living here and it’s only gotten worse. Grass grows at an accelerated rate because all of the water and debris from the ENTIRE STREET flows through this county owned drainage ditch. Mosquitoes are out of control. I called the health department, and the lady says “the grass is so tall, I can’t even tell if there’s standing water or not”. Trust me, there is. I need the grass cut every week, the boulders removed, and this problem fixed.

Any time it rains there is water 6 inches deep blocking the entrance to my driveway and flooding my yard from this poorly designed county easement drainage ditch. The water is pouring over the sidewalk/curb, and into my yard! I’m unable to enter/exit my driveway safely and my property is being damaged by this flood water. It never used to be this bad until the County placed tons and tons of boulders in this drainage “ditch”. Now the ditch clogs up with leaves and debris from the rest of the street, and collects in front of my driveway. I’m tired of dealing with this. If the county would have fixed this right the first time, 10 years ago, this wouldn’t be a problem. Why does every other street in the neighborhood have storm drains? Meanwhile this end of 1st Avenue is left to look like a pond in the middle of the street any time it even looks like rain. You created this scenario, and now I’m left to deal with it. Fix it or I’m moving and taking my hard earned tax dollars with me. I’ve contacted the health department and they will be contacting you. This is unacceptable and it has been for the past 10+ years! I pay tens of thousands of dollars a year in taxes and I’ve been brushed off long enough. Make a storm drain. Every other street has one. Period.

This county easement is NEVER taken care of. This is supposed to be a drain for the street. As you can see by the 4 foot tall grass and TONS of water in the street, it’s not exactly draining. I have been asking to get a drainage pipe in here for years. The county instead placed huge rocks and boulders in the ditch to further slow the water down. However, now because of the boulders I can’t take care of it anymore. The money and resources spent could have easily paid for a simple street drain to be put in. Let’s deal with this so I don’t have to. I will be making a sign that says “Anne Arundel County Property” so I don’t have to deal with this embarrassment. This is an absolute disgrace, and I will be contacting someone higher up. I have dealt with this for 10+ years, and I have 10+ years of pictures and documented complaints. I will gladly take my hard earned tax dollars to another state. Someone step up and get this fixed.

Huge pond in the street out in front of my driveway. I have been taking car of this “easement” since 2010. I’ve also been complaining about the drainage and no one taking care of this land since 2010. Nothing ever got done. About 2 years ago, someone else complained that their back yard was flooding and instantly tons and tons of large boulders and rocks were placed in this “drainage” ditch to slow the water down. Now because of the boulders, I can’t cut the grass or take care of it. They said they would take care of it, so I built a fence. The county has not cut the grass for a whole year. The grass is now 38” tall, and the entire ditch is clogged with leaves and has standing water in it at all times. This is a major health and safety hazard. Totally unacceptable. Something needs to be done. I’m seeking measures higher up. The county keeps dragging me along and I’m fed up. This needs to be fixed. I pay thousands of dollars every year in taxes and absolutely nothing gets done. My property is neat and tidy. The county property looks like complete trash. I will be making a formal complaint on this website every day until something gets done. No more stringing me along. We need a drainage pipe on this street. Every other street in this neighborhood has drainage/runoff pipes while I have to deal with 8” deep water in my driveway. Seriously?

County property easement next to my private property completely clogged with branches, leaves, debris, trash. This “ditch” sees all of the water runoff from 1st Ave W and is never cleaned or maintained. Please remove leaves and debris from this site. My back yard and garage was flooded during recent storms. This has been an issue for the past 10 years I’ve lived here, and I’m no longer going to take care of this county drainage ditch. Standing water, mosquitoes etc. Please let’s get this cleaned up and keep the grass cut.

Major drainage issue on county easement property next to my house. Several “band-aid” fixes have been attempted. Tons of money wasted using huge rocks and boulders to slow down the water, and in turn I’m left with standing water for days after a storm. Dealing with major health issues from mosquitos and disgusting smells from constantly wet soil and debris that washes in this deep “ditch”. The county has been out several times with tons of heavy equipment. If a drainage pipe was installed in the first place, the problem would be done and fixed. I am tired of dealing with the mosquito breeding ground, and the grass planted by the county that grows 3x as fast as all of the other grass. Every other street in my neighborhood has drainage/sewers. Why did 1st Avenue get overlooked?

There have been several attempts to remedy this issue, and nothing has worked. I'm tired of my driveway flooding, my garage being threatened by anything more than a light rain. All of the trash, leaves, and debris washes down in front of my house, and I'm expected to clean it up, even though it's not my property. The grass here grows 5 times faster, and never gets cut, unless I do it. Since the latest "fix" using tons of Rocks and boulders, I now have standing water next to my house for days, which smells horrible and attracts bugs and mosquitoes. Please just install a drainage pipe here and be done with it. As many times as you guys have been out and tried to bandaid this problem, a drainage pipe could have been installed, removed, and installed again! Fix this issue the right way, and be done with it! I will be taking actions into my own hands if nothing is done soon. I can't risk damage to the property in my garage due to this poor drainage issue. Every other street in the neighborhood has drains! Why doesn't this area have drains? Please feel free to call me @ 410-971-2894. Thank you
