There is a ditch in under all this and it’s within city property according to GIS maps. This is supposed to take the water away that flows across my property on the other side of the road. If we ever start getting heavy rains again, the water will back up across my yard because the flow is severely blocked.

Motorcycle racing. Work at a church that almost backs up to Cecil ashburn on the Bailey cove side. Been doing a lot outside in the evenings and hearing a lot of high speed motorcycles flying back and forth over Cecil. When driving home the other night encountered two of them. They are obviously racing, either each other or a clock. went by so fast it scared us. The bikes were laid over so far on the curve their knees were at the ground. Been hearing this for at least three weeks. Eventually one of these is going to cause a serious wreck - either singly or by running into some auto.

The turn signal to go south on Bailey cove only held long enough for four vehicles to get through. Not even long enough for half the turn lane to get through. Needs to be retimed to empty full turn lane.

The light at this intersection was turning red on the Whitesburg side even though no vehicles on Martin or the road across from Martin. People just sitting waiting on nothing.

Ridiculous road backs up for mile or more just because some want to turn left and there is no lane. Absolute insanity

A few years back this ditch (from Under Ada drive heading east) had rip rap put in, but no kind of barrier. because of that it grows up into a nasty mess each year. Can this be cleaned out and maybe even sprayed to kill everything? Water can’t drain, stagnant, mosquito pit. Thanks

Not really a pothole. Looks like a sinkhole. There is a huge patch here, but a softball-sized hole has develop in the patch. Inside the hole it looks like entrance to a larger hole underneath.

Is there any way the city could patrol 431 between the bottom of mountain to Sutton road? Or set speed traps?? It’s become like a drag strip through here. ALL DAY it has sounded like the Daytona 500. A gaggle of motorcycles just flew by at 70mph or greater!! It’s like this all weekend and most evenings now. And On top of that those doing it have exhaust systems that break every noise ordinance in the city and county!!

I think there needs to be markings of the wide shoulders on Cecil ashburn for bike lanes. Much wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth was done by the cycling and running community to make sure they didn’t lose their wide shoulders in the widening of that road.

This past weekend, on the same day, going in both directions, I had to weave out of the outside lane to avoid cyclists slowly climbing up the hill. Coming around a curve with short sight lines, going 40 (and for many people, much faster) I was on the almost non- moving bikers in an instant. That is not a road they should be on in the lanes. The entire reason to have those extra wide shoulders were for them. Please consider marking the shoulders as such in the same way bike lanes are marked in downtown city roads.
    Thanks

This is for the lane marking on then south bound, old big cove new intersection at Sutton road. Right now the middle lane is left only and the right lane is right and straight. When the Cecil project was presented there were separate lanes designed, but that wasn’t built. Many more people go straight and right (up the mountain) than go left - especially with traffic coming from 431. So it is often no one is in left turn lane, but many stacked in the right lane- all heading south (except for those stuck wanting to go right). This would work much better if the middle lane was straight/left turn leaving the right lane for right turn only. As designed, a single, badly-positioned vehicle can block anyone trying to turn right, especially now that there is a big drop off from the new asphalt. So if the south-bound vehicles were in the middle lane, multiple vehicles could sit at the light and still allow vehicles to turn right. This would help the flow a lot!

These two signs are incorrect. Neither of them point to the correct lanes and if one followed them they would not get to their destination. The Memorial Parkway sign arrow leads to left turn lanes onto Martin Road east or to U-Turn back onto Parkway north. The Martin Road sign arrows lead to the straight through lanes onto the Parkway access road - NOT Martin road (east or west). Location: https://www.google.com/maps/@34.6767507,-86.5761076,18z

Can the barrels in the right lane going over Cecil Ashburn be removed? There is NO work going on in this area and there were always two lanes going up the mountain to Donegal. It may seem like they are far enough away from Bailey Cove to be a non-issue, but that's not true. As soon as people cross Bailey Cove they start jockeying to get in the left lane, sometimes with not enough space to merge in. It has made the right lane basically useless except to those wanting to turn into the businesses. Just watch the backup on google maps EVERY DAY to see how this is causing a problem.

The traffic lights along the Jones Valley shopping center are not working correctly. Tonight Bailey Cove got stopped in both directions though no one pulled out of the shopping center. THEN the left turn lane signal into the shopping center activated even though no one was in that lane - so the main road just sat and waited for no reason. Noticed the other lights doing similar things - activating when no one there.

The left sign is clearly incorrect. If a person gets in the far left lane, they can NOT go to S. Parkway. That lane splits into two for turning left back onto N. Parkway, or going east on Martin Road. I'm not positive, but I believe the Martin Road sign is incorrect as well - I think only the RIGHT lane goes to Martin Road. I believe the middle lane takes one up into the intersection to continue onto the access road.

Can HSV city police start posting some police along 431 between Old Big Cove and Sutton road - especially on Friday and Saturday nights? It becomes like a motor speedway out there, especially for those morons that have souped up exhaust systems. We live over 1/2 a mile from parts of 431 and it sounds like they are going to come through our house at times. It is obvious (and I've seen many times with my own eyes while being passed) that these motorcycles, cars, and trucks are going WELL over 55mph out there. And Caldwell lane is treated like a mini speedway as people turn from 431 and attempt to see how fast they can get before they have to slow down to turn. It's getting quite ridiculous!!
