Hello. We live at 108 Sylvan Street, which is on the corner of Winship Street. The asphalt sidewalk between the top of Winship Street (on the odd side) and the boundary line of our property, which abuts the property at 9 Winship Street is severely uneven. There are several dips and pits and raised areas, especially in the area in front of our driveway. Walking on this section of the sidewalk has proven to be very dangerous. I have fallen because of the uneven surface and I have seen neighbors stumble and fall because of it as well. Several people who use this sidewalk are older and may already have difficulty walking, so this stretch of sidewalk definitely poses a threat to their and our safety. I would like to respectfully request that someone from the City does an inspection and takes steps to correct the uneven surface of this sidewalk. I have attached photos, but I believe an in-person inspection would be more beneficial, as pictures can't accurately capture the unevenness of the surface. I emailed Mr. Knox and Vidic on September 18, 2023, but unfortunately I have not received a reply.
Thank you very much in advance for any assistance you can provide.

The lanes on Winter Street need to be properly marked. When cars are traveling from Glenwood or Washington Street onto Winter Street, there are two lanes but they are not marked as to which one is for going straight. I travel this road every day and more times than I can count, cars will use the right lane to go straight, creeping up on the inside of cars in the left lane who are also going straight. The right lane ends at the intersection of Banks Place where there is also a crosswalk that is heavily used. Some simple signage or painted markings on the lanes would be very helpful to prevent car accidents and pedestrian strikes. Also, you may want to station a police car in the area of the apartment buildings, as many cars cross the double yellow line to drive on the wrong side of the road to turn onto Autumn Street when traffic is backed up. This makes for a very dangerous situation. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Bag of trash/clothing dumped at the top of Winship Street.
Also lots of debris left on street after the pothole was filled. If that can be swept up, it would be appreciated.

Large, deep pothole at the top of Winship Street where it meets Sylvan Street. The street already has reduced accessibility because it was not plowed closely to the curb on either side. When people come around the corner from Sylvan onto Winship, they have no way to avoid this large pothole. Thank you in advance for taking care of this.

The right hand land of Winter Street (heading toward Oak Grove) is completel impassable due to snow not being plowed. The reduced lane is causing traffic to back up on an already crowded roadway. Thank you in advance.

If you can please send a plow to Winship Street sometime today to open up the street more, we would appreciate it. It appears that only one pass was made down the center of the street and that has reduced Winship Street down to one lane. This street is heavily traveled during school drop off and pick up and the large banks of snow make it very difficult to see around the corners, as well as making traffic back up on Sylvan Street in both directions with people trying to access Winship Street.

Also, if you can please have them remove the snow, and not just push it onto the sidewalks that would be appreciated. Residents spent a lot of time and effort to clear the sidewalks and it would be a shame to have them have to do it all over again. Thank you in advance!

Two very deep potholes on East Border Road - almost near the intersection of Summer Street. Hard to see them until you hit them because of the slope of the street. Thank you in advance for fixing these potholes.

Four very large and deep potholes on East Border Road, close to Summer Street. Two are in the middle of the road and two are along the curb, right where your tires go when you are traveling. Thank you in advance for filling them.

Large pothole directly across from Forestdale School. Just another request to fix the streets in the Forestdale area. Forest Street is STILL a mess and no one has acknowledged the numerous requests to have the street fixed. Now Sylvan is starting to get several potholes. What will it take to get this situation fixed? A giant sinkhole that swallows up the whole area? I fear we are not that far away from that. No reply from Councillor Murphy either. Just so disgusted with this whole situation.

FOREST STREET IS AN ABOMINATION! Too many potholes to count. Seriously. Three open threads on this site regarding it's condition and all assigned to DPW but no progress has been made. Multiple votes which mean others agree and are as disgusted as I am. The street is practically impassible. Please stop telling us to be patient and please stop telling us that the DPW is addressing the potholes. The entire length of the street needs PROPER repair. Filling holes with loose asphalt and rocks is NOT a solution. Placing orange barrels over holes is NOT a solution. These areas need to be dug out and patched properly. Perhaps Councillor Murphy can assist? She is a resident of Forest Street. Please City of Malden.... help us.

Several more large potholes have opened up on Forest Street. Trying to have patience but it's really a pain to have to drive several miles out of my way to go home because the city can not properly address the condition of Forest Street. Driving on Forest Street is like being inside of a popcorn popper. Please do something to fix our street. Tossing some rocks and loose hottop into them is not the answer. The areas need to be dug out and patched properly.
