There were two locations regarding this illegal dumping incident. Myself and a colleague were near the entrance to American Steel building where we work and witnessed a man pushing garbage off the back of a white flat bed truck as it passed. The contents were dumped into the middle of the 4 lane street so, we decided to sweep it all over to the curb. While we were there a local business man driving by saw us and inquired and said that he saw the same vehicle dumping trash items out the back of the same description vehicle just a bit earlier, in front of his place of business. That was Habitat For Humanity workshop on Poplar Street. I got his information and asked if he was willing to be included in the report. He agreed. The three of us are willing to testify if needed. Here are the details: Incident of Illegal Dumping at both locations happened approximately 8:35pm on Monday December 16, 2019. We were not able to capture an image of the truck in action. However, we discovered a few items among the dumped refuse that had addresses and/or names. Two items pointed to SUNBEAM MARKET located at 1400 Adeline Street (which is about 4 blocks away from dump site). Also, it's important to note that 99.99% of the items dumped were paper packaging from items notably sold at convenience stores, such as Little Debbie Snack Cakes, 6-pack Beer carriers, variety of candy bar case size packing, empty cigarette case boxes, candy boxes. etc. None of the trash included used individual item packaging such as empty beer bottles, candy wrappers etc. If the city feels this information is enough to pursue this further, we will make an attempt to find the vehicle we saw used in the dumping. If it matches our description and is located near the Sunbeam Market (most likely) we will take a photo of the license plate and add that to this investigation.

NEED A 4-Wheel Drive vehicle to get up this street! I was just there to visit a friend and in my little toyota truck was bouncing all over the place just to get along the entire street. the pothole and deteriation begins immediately after turning off Fruitvale but, continues without a break the entire length of HYDE. The city of Oakland must put PAVING Hyde street on the top of their list of paving priorities.

Hello, This is a request for an upgrade on the traffic signs and traffic control on Aliso Ave before the intersection of 39th Ave. At this intersection the Redwood Heights Elementary School is hidden from view. Many drivers go much faster than they should when approaching a school. There is an extreme amount of traffic at this intersection on Weekdays (school days) in the mornings and afternoons. It is VERY difficult for a vehicle to pull out of this neighborhood side street (39th Ave) without some probabilty of an accident occurring. Drivers approaching 39th headed North on Aliso can not easily be seen due to the curvature of the road and parked vehicles. In addition, I believe the existing school signs are very faded, too small and placed too high thus get ignored [see green circles on photo] by drivers on Aliso Ave. On Friday 02/22/2019 approx 2:30pm, an individual pedestrian was KILLED at this intersection by a vehicle [see red arrow on photo]. I can not give you details if the incident. You have the date and time, I'm sure OPD will offer that information to you. THE SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS to controlling traffic here would be: #1st choice ~ Install a STOP sign for Aliso Ave. traffic to stop at 39th (best choice for preventing accidents and death); #2 ~ Install SLOW to 10 MPH AHEAD sign AND replace old "school ahead" sign with a bigger bright NEW sign. #3 ~ Install a couple speed humps in advance of the 39th Ave intersection (Only the NORTH bound side)[see pink lines on photo] which will force drivers to slow or practically stop which will allow drivers to notice that there's a school zone with traffic & children walking; the bumps also offer vehicles waiting for an open chance to turn Northbound onto Aliso (at 39th). PLEASE PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THIS TERRIBLE TRAFFIC SAFETY PROBLEM, ASAP. WE DO NOT WANT ANY MORE PEDESTRIANS KILLED AND HAVE CHILDREN TO WITNESS IT AGAIN!! Thank you! ~ Concerned RHS parents.
