1812 Martin Luther King Jr Way Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
A tent and a large canopy have been set up in the eastern-most block of Ohlone Park for about 1 month. The City has been notified at least twice about this with no action to date. This discourages other people from using the park and creates a public health and safety hazard. Illegal camping is not a proper use for a local city p ark.

Person sleeping openly on walkway at corner of MLK, Jr. Way and Hearst Avenue, just inside Ohlone Park. Adjacent is a huge pile of junk and garbage. Has been there for at least 2-3 days and the person hasn't moved. May be dead? ! Please check it out and remove! Doesn't belong here!!

1900 Hearst Ave Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
Illegal encampment along with large pile of garbage on sidewalk and part of the street next to the North Berkeley Senior Center. The garbage is spilling into the bike lane, requiring cars to veer to avoid hitting items in the roadway. This has been there for at least 2 days.

There is a tent and a huge pile of stuff on the sidewalk on 2000 Milvia just north of the intersection with University. The volume greatly exceeds the provisions of the sidewalk ordinance as well as constituting camping on a public sidewalk. Please remove.

Hearst Ave & Milvia St Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
A huge pile of garbage and debris has been dumped at the corner of Milvia And Hearst in the northeast section of Ohlone Park. Someone may be encamped there as well. There is garbage all over the ground and a large quantity of various buggies, shopping carts, umbrellas, etc. This is within the park boundaries and a few feet away from a children's playground. This section of the park has become unusable for everyone except for the one person who persists in stashing her stuff there, essentially commandeering the park for her exclusive personal use. Can the City please finally do something about this once and for all? Our park is supposed to be for all the people to use and enjoy but it has become totally impossible.

A huge pile of stuff is back on Hearst Avenue adjacent to the Ohlone murals. It temporarily moved around the corner onto Bonita but it is back. It is in clear violation of the City's sidewalk ordinance. Please enforce the ordinance and remove this completely. The City's continued tolerance of this has essentially rendered the park unusable for everyone else.

Mcgee Ave & Hearst Ave Berkeley, CA, 94703, USA - Berkeley
There are 2 tents set up in Ohlone Park: one across from McGee and the other just below MLK, Jr. Way. These were seen fully erected as of 10:00 a.m. today. This is illegal camping in a public park during daylight hours. Please remove them.

1800 Bonita Ave Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
A new pile of garbage and debris has been dumped at the corner of Bonita and Hearst, adjacent to the Totland. It appears that the woman who normally keeps her pile on Hearst Avenue has just moved it around the corner. The collection is massive and is literally a few feet away from the Totland playground. Please remove this once and for all so that it doesn't just move from one spot to another.

1930 Hearst Ave Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
Continued illegal camping and dumping of garbage, a mattress, and other debris across from 1930 Hearst Avenue on the park side, adjacent to the Totland and children's playground. Garbage is spilling into the street. Yesterday as I drove by I saw the inhabitant of one of the tents stick his rear end out of the tent and defecate in the roadway. Others have reported seeing rodents there. When is this going to be removed?

1930 Hearst Ave Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
Pile of garbage spilling into the street and bike lane across from 1930 Hearst Street, on the park side. Adjacent to 2 illegal tents and an even larger pile of stuff a bit further up Hearst Avenue. All within a few feet of a Totland and a children's playground.
  • 1930 Hearst Ave Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
The man living in the second tent on the strip of Hearst Avenue adjacent to the Ohlone Murals and playgrounds just defecated openly in the park.

There is now a second tent on the strip adjacent to the Ohlone Murals on Hearst Avenue, near the Totland playground. In addition, there is a large pile of garbage and debris around it. This has to be a breeding ground for rats. It looks like a true encampment is being established on that block. The fact that the other tent has been permitted to remain there for over one year despite numerous complaints has obviously been seen as permission from the City to establish a foothold here. Please do the right thing and move these tents out along with the attendant pile of garbage, debris, and stuff, so that people who live here can enjoy the park.

1807 Bonita Ave Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
There is a pile of garbage, a mattress, and odd assorted items dumped on Bonita Avenue where it intersects with Hearst, across from the North Berkeley Senior Center and just on the other side of the Totland fence. Rats have been seen scurrying from this pile and there may be someone living inside the debris. This constitutes the 3rd pile of stuff and a tent on that corner and looks like the beginnings of a semi-permanent encampment. This pile is just a few feet away from the play area in the Totland where young children go to play and enjoy the park. The City's failure to remove the other 2 illegal dumpings (a huge pile of stuff and a tent) in that same area that have been repeatedly reported, has clearly emboldened others to use that area as a dumping/camping ground. Has the City decided to make upper Ohlone Park a tacitly approved encampment? Why is this being allowed to persist?

1932 Hearst Ave Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
There continues to be a tent and a pile of garbage on the strip across from 1932 Hearst Street, next to the Ohlone Park murals. This tent has been there continuously for days and despite many reports being filed about it and the pile of garbage next to it, they have been allowed to remain. Please remove both of these things as they are a public nuisance, a public health hazard, in violation of encampments in residential areas, exceed the volume of possessions permitted on public sidewalks, spill into the roadway and bike lane causing hazards, and constitute a mis-use of public spaces. It is outrageous that reports continue to be made and the City "closes" them as if the situation was resolved. It is not resolved. Please act.
  • 1930 Hearst Ave Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
There is a tent set up on the sidewalk adjacent to the Ohlone Mural, near the huge pile of stuff that "lives" there. This is in violation of the city regulation banning encampments in residential areas. Please remove it immediately. Thank you.
  • 1930 Hearst Ave Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
There are now three (3) separate tents with attendant piles of stuff on the block of Hearst Avenue between Milvia and MLK,Jr. Way. This is in direct violation of the local ordinance restricting encampments in residential areas. In addition, these tents/piles are obstructing the sidewalk and in one case, continually spilling into the street and bike lane. One tent is directly next to the North Berkeley Senior Center at the corner of MLK, Jr. Way. Another is a bit further east on the same side of the street (north) and the pile of stuff that has been present for over one year is further east of that one. The tent at the corner of MLK, Jr. Way has been there for at least two days without removal, and it appears that this has emboldened another urban camper to erect a second one. At this rate, that stretch of Hearst will become overrun with tents and piles of stuff. This is all within a residential area, directly across the street from homes and adjacent to Ohlone park where there are play structures and a tot land. Please immediately remove these tents and piles. This is a clear public health hazard, a violation of the ban on encampments in residential areas, a clear violation of the quantity of things permitted on public sidewalks, a clear obstruction of public sidewalks, etc., etc. What is it going to take to get this stuff removed?!!!!
  • 1900 Hearst Ave Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
There is an avalanche of garbage from a huge pile of stuff into the bike lane and onto the street on Hearst between Milvia and Bonita Streets.
  • Hearst Ave & Mlk Jr Way Berkeley, CA, 94709, USA - Berkeley
There is a tent along with several other items on the sidewalk at the northeast corner of Hearst and MLK, Jr. Way. It is just across from the now-fenced North Berkeley Senior Center. Someone has evidently taken up residence on a public sidewalk. Please remove before this stretch becomes a larger encampment that is more difficult to clear.
