You should plow the sidewalk on Sherwood St, like they usually do, so the kids don't have to walk in the road to Presumpscot School, and the middle schoolers don't have to walk to the bus when the sun is shining in the faces of the drivers.

Hi. I raised a concern on June 16th 2023. It was acknowledged today, October 26th. Long after the problem of construction noise finally ended.

Thank you for your prompt response.

If your trash guys would have opened this trash can, instead of just taking the one bag on top that my neighbor left, they would have seen that there is trash inside for them to take. The trash is even in your overpriced purple trash bags that you require. And if they would have paid attention last week, they would have seen two bags instead of one and not left the bottom one behind.

    Please come get it.

Would you please fix this damage to Sherwood St, courtesy of Nelson Property Services and Ronda at Portland Public Works who had no problem giving them permits to dig the road up, but refuses to give them a permit to fix this damage. The shoddy repair has sunk in around the manhole. There is no sign warning of the bump.

The repairs done by Nelson Property Services were shoddy. Cars, trying to avoid the lights on Washington Ave, hit it at high speed. Trucks with trailers hit it making banging and crashing sounds at all hours. When it rains, the puddle fills up with water and cars hit that, splashing it up over the sidewalk. A guy hit it on his electric bicycle, and almost fell.

Could you please remind Nelson Property Services of the city ordinance that requires them to not start work before 7 AM. They have been starting around 6:30 AM. Last week, they dropped off tractors at 6:09 AM. This morning there was a Bobcat running, which beeps loudly at 6:45.

    Thank you.

    Dear SeeClickFix Portland

I see that today is the third day that the sidewalk at the construction sight on Sherwood Street is going to be blocked off. The last couple days, the kids have had to walk out in the street, which is half blocked by the big trucks, while the cars coming in both directions try to get through. There are no flaggers directing traffic, and nobody to make sure the kids get by safely.

There is a bus stop at the corner of Veranda and Sherwood, and Presumpscot School is right around the corner on Presumpscot St. Kids walk both ways.

Also, the damage done to the road by this construction company needs to be addressed. They have dug the road up multiple times, and their repair jobs are shoddy at best, and are sinking in around the manhole. This has created a nasty bump and puddles when it rains that when cars hit it, splashes up on the sidewalk.

You need to fix the traffic lights at the Veranda St Bridge. There is no need of that, a 4 way stop would be just as effective. The light doesn't change. You are stuck at two red lights when there is nothing coming either way. I honked my horn at the guy in front of me after sitting there waiting for it to change. Since it wouldn't, several cars ran the red light.

I know you probably don't care, but the sidewalk is caving in, a little more every time it rains. And the fencing isn't being closed at night because a truck ran over it, so one side of it is just laying there, and there are trucks going in and out when the kids are walking to school. And there is mud and gravel all up and down Sherwood St, and you won't street sweep regularly. It's only a matter of time before it causes an accident for somebody on 2 wheels. And the constant beeping from the trucks and heavy equipment that is blasting through the neighborhood all day long is getting old.

My bad. One of those barrels got run over by a big truck. That opens the sidewalk a little.

At the new construction entrance to the 0 Dalton St Development, on Sherwood St, they are laying the fencing across the sidewalk and blocking the other side of the entrance with barrels. There is also a tripping hazard caused by the damage to the tar. Please address this.

    Photo taken at 7:25 AM.

I know they were spoken to by someone from the city about blocking the sidewalk yesterday, but they have no respect for people in the neighborhood and just lay their fencing anywhere.

Somebody painted a devil on the tree overlooking the Grand Trunk Cemetery behind Presumpscot School.

It would also be nice if you mowed. There are Veterans buried there.

  • Veranda St Portland, Maine, 04103 - Portland

Could you run the street sweepers a little more regularly. The trucks from the loud 0 Dalton St project is tracking dirt and gravel up and down Veranda and Sherwood St.

This is becoming dangerous for anybody on two wheels.

The constant beeping at the construction site at 0 Dalton St started at 6:45 AM this morning. That is in violation of section 17-18 of the city ordinance that says that construction should not begin before 7 AM.

Please put a stop to this.

Do you really think it's a good idea to have these excavators clearing out a whole forest and parking on a sidewalk where kids are going to be walking to school in the next few minutes?

    Dear City of Portland

The 15 gallon trash bags that you make us pay $15 dollars for a package of 10 are of extremely poor quality, rip easily, won't fit properly into a standard size kitchen waste basket, and now when you try to close it, the whole top rips off.

I called the 1-800 number on the side of the bag and they are now sending me a free replacement package of poor quality trash bags. Perhaps more people should do this. Call them and complain every time.

This whole program is a major rip-off to the residents of the City of Portland. You overcharge us for a pathetic quality product which we have no other choice but to pay for, then raise taxes on everybody anyway.

  • 144 Sherwood St Portland, ME, 04103, USA - Portland

The Purple Portland trash bag was put inside of the white bag because your Purple bags are cheap and weak. Your trash man should have taken it but didn't. We have animals in the neighborhood that have been getting into the trash.

Perhaps you should take some of that extra money you're getting from the tax revaluation and drop this pay per bag program.

You should send somebody buy to pick it up.

Somebody smashed a glass bottle just outside the tennis court at Payson Park, over by the water fountain.
  • Fox St & Washington Ave Portland, ME, 04101, USA - Portland
The new traffic light on the corner of Fox St and Washington Ave is a traffic clogging joke and should be removed. If someone is turning left onto Fox Street nobody can get around them and they're often likely to be the only car getting through.
  • India Street Portland, ME, USA - Portland
It's pretty sad that this is being used to tattle on people who are working outside while not wearing masks. Grow up. Really.
  • Veranda St Portland, ME, 04103, USA - Portland

The traffic light coming off Viranda St only stays green for 15 seconds. If there is oncoming traffic from Bates St, than only 2 people can make it through. If the person in front of you is smart enough to pull out far enough when the light turns green, that is.

You really should fix it. I've asked several times.
