giant 53' tractor-tailor and industrial vehicle parked in bike lane in posted no stopping or standing anytime on Washington between Bay and Morgan.

WOTS is down leaving this as they only app-based option.

pedestrian crossing sign knocked over by vehicles routinely parking on crosswalk. Parking enforcement refuses to cite these, so now traffic engineering gets to pay to replace broken infrastructure.

2 parking bollards for curb extension dislodged by illegal parking, usually FedEx, USPS, and Amazon trucks. 1 bollard remains in the street.

How many times must our tax dollars pay for the same materials and labor due to a bad design being abused by courier and other commercial drivers? The current implementation is by definition not a curb extension, but rather a suggestion to not park. This area needs permanent barriers and a "NO STOPPING OR STANDING" sign.

New construction started today at Harborside lot 8, but I can't find a permit application for this site on the Planning Division's website. Was a permit granted recently? They are actively digging and preparing to drive test piles. Photo taken 3/30/2020 at 12:03PM.
  • Parking issues Đã lưu trữ
481-481 Washington Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07310, USA - The Waterfront

JCPE is arbitrarily refusing to enforce bike lane violations along Washington Blvd. Every day, taxi and delivery vehicles drive into the PROTECTED bike lane, through the barriers, and park in front of Westin and Monaco (Santander Bank) instead of using either driveway. This is forcing bicycles out into traffic or onto the sidewalk and is blocking visibility for vehicles exiting the driveways. This is creating a hazardous stream of constant near-miss incidents.

When reporting these issues to WOTS, the results are extremely inconsistent. Even when JCPE is one block away at Harborside, the response times can take over 45 minutes. More importantly, about 50% of the reports being closed with the following.

"We were able to confirm the issue you reported, however this issue is not illegal under city, state, or federal laws."

Driving through protected barriers into a restricted lane is illegal under NJ state law. Stopping, standing, and parking in a posted "No Standing" is illegal under NJ state and Jersey City local law.

Please work with Parking Enforcement to produce a memorandum/training for patrol officers to enforce bike lane restrictions.

USPS truck parked INSIDE protected bike lane. Drove through the barriers instead of parking in the driveway of the hotel. This was reported to WOTS, but parking enforcement did not respond fast enough. Adding this to the ongoing list of USPS parking violations to be discussed with the inspector general.

Is there another way we should be reporting ongoing issues with USPS so they can be communicated to the officials who are dealing with the Postal Inspector?

  • 44 Bay St Jersey City, NJ 07302, USA - The Waterfront
Missing "NO PARKING ANYTIME" sign from the East-most pole on Bay Street, closest to Hudson St in front of Harborside parking lot. This whole street is no parking, but it looks like this sign was removed. Vehicles keep blocking Bay Street parking in the roadway. I have reported the parking separately via WOTS. This request is just to fix the missing sign.
  • 321-341 Warren St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown

Since The Lively completed construction, the southbound sidewalk and travel lane of Warren St between Morgan and Steuben has re-opened. Parking signs need to be reinstalled on the southbound sidewalk of 321-331 Warren St in front of the new building. Vehicles are constantly parking too close to the corner, overhanging the crosswalk, and causing pedestrian safety issues at this intersection.

In the attached photo, both the blue and silver cars near the corner are parked in a No Parking zone, but traffic enforcement would only cite the blue car since the sign was missing on the southbound side. An adult male pedestrian was hit by a car at this intersection on Sunday while I was in the opposite crosswalk. He chose not to report it because he wasn't injured and didn't want to take the time. He would not give his name.

Please install appropriate parking signs ASAP to improve pedestrian visibility and safety.

Pedestrian crossing button missing/damaged on signal at NW corner of Marin Blvd & Christopher Columbus Dr.
  • Thomas Gangemi Dr & Washington Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07310, USA - The Waterfront

The bike lanes on the west/southbound side of Washington Street need protective barriers like the east/northbound side has. The southbound lanes also need to be repainted and have signage updated with the correct straight/turn lane indications. "No Right On Red" at Thomas Gangemi Drive, 4th Street, and 2nd Street would also significantly improve the pedestrian and bicycle safety of these intersections.

Vehicles are routinely using the southbound bike lane and painted median between Newport and 2nd Street as an express right-turn lane, parking lane, and drop-off area, forcing bicycles onto the sidewalk or out into traffic.

Attached is a photo of a bus using the bike lane as a right turn lane. This evening I took a 66-second video and recorded 10 cars driving, loading, or parking in the bike lane in this 3 block stretch. I also have an 11 minute video showing dozens of incidents including 2 near-misses with bicycles.
