  • Newark Ave & Tonnele Ave Jersey City, New Jersey, 07306 - Journal Square
    Broken / dangerous catch basin.
I took this photo last night, Jan. 31, about 9:15 pm. This is the THIRD TIME I have reported this same catch basin, with the same problem. It is at the northeast corner of the intersection. It was obviously installed incorrectly and has not been repaired properly since. This is DANGEROUS! This is a busy intersection with hundreds of pedestrians daily. This has to be permanently fixed, properly. You (MUA) are exposing the city to millions in liability damages.

    Alert Jersey City Alert --
This is NOT a locational complaint. We, the volunteers from Journal Square Community Association, have been trying to find out for several weeks how to use / deploy the Alert Jersey City Alert system to provide effective notification of street closures, construction disruptions, etc. Some departments use this, but it is rare. There is one this morning for Mina Drive.
How do we find out who authorizes this system and how it can be used? Thank you.
  • 836 Newark Ave Jersey City, NJ 07306, USA - Journal Square
Broken steel catchbasin cover. This catch basin at the southeast corner of Newark & Tonnele Ave. has been a problem before, and now the steel abutment has separated from the sidewalk and is tilting into the street. This is a very busy corner and this damage presents a serious risk of injury. Please put it on a. expedited list for repair.
  • St Pauls Ave & John F Kennedy Blvd Jersey City, New Jersey, 07306 - Journal Square
From this point to the intersection of St. Paul's and Tonnele Ave., the street has been closed for a week and a half for CITY WORK! Why is there no traffic alert going out to let us know we cannot get to our building? No detour signs posted on Kennedy Blvd. to warn you in advance so you can take another route? This is a CITY PROJECT. Why is there no consideration of the several thousand people who lives west of Kennedy Blvd.? Why are city departments not coordinating with the Mayor's Office to be sure an alert goes out? If you drive into the area without knowing the street is closed, you have to drive about 12 blocks to get back to a place where you can access Tonnele Ave. and all the residential buildings there.
If this was Downtown, there would be an alert. We deserve the same consideration.
Btw -- I called RRC today to ask for this issue to be reported. They told me the Mayor's Office was the appropriate place to report this service lapse. When I spoke to the Mayor's Office, they transferred me back to RRC! And, no one answered the phone.
  • 195 Tonnelle Ave Jersey City, NJ 07306, USA - Journal Square
Once again, the sweeper is skipping this portion of Tonnele Ave. This is the west side of the street between Dey St & Van Winkle. This photo was taken yesterday, Friday Oct. 27 in the afternoon and as you can see, this is more than one day's litter. Also no tickets on the cars, street sweeping here is Tuesday & Friday 8 am - 10 pm. That black sedan has obviously been sitting there for several days, and is still there today with even more litter under it.
Why do the sweeper and the parking harpy skip this section of street?

Brennan Courthouse in back, on the Pavonia Ave side, grass is about a foot tall. Very unkempt and messy looking. If someone can give me a phone number I will call the county -- but definitely needs mowing.

Below you will see captioned the original complaint from 9/13 for this property. You have acknowledged and archived it, but nothing has been done except they finally threw away the junk fan. The grass looks shorter now, but that's just because it fell over.
Was a summons actually issued? Response said "it will be". But now it's time for another one.

This home at 39 Dey St. has had these empty trash cans, debris, folding chair, shopping cart and general trash stashed in the front yard, clearly visible from the street and sidewalk, all spring and summer. Can we get it cleaned up before it becomes a 4-season, permanent installation?

This full red trash can appeared on St. Paul's Ave., southwest corner at Tonnele Ave. , 4 - 5 days ago. it does not belong to any of our buildings. There is also a large, blank sign that's been here a couple of weeks, seems like it flew off a truck. Can someone pick up both of these?
