  • 5 Hughes Pl New Haven, Connecticut - Wooster Square

Cars driving the wrong way on Hughes Pl.

This has been an ongoing problem which appears to be increasing in the past months. Sometimes cars reverse up the street. Other times drivers will blatantly drive the wrong way up Hughes Pl as a short-cut to get onto St Johns St as opposed to the 1 minute it takes to make the block. The city trash collector also backs up this street.

This is extremely dangerous. Last month, my husband who was in the car with our 18-month old was almost hit head on when he turned onto Hughes Pl to be met by a silver SUV speeding the wrong-way on this street. Can the police or city please do something about this before someone gets hurt or worse...

  • 274-296 Greene Street New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Wooster Square

Silver Nissan Altima has been parked at the Northern end of Wooster Square Park since Saturday with both front windows down. I initially thought it was someone spending time nearby in the park but car has not been moved in more than two days.

The car is the perfect target and open invitation to have its contents stolen. If you know the owner, please let them know.

  • 1-21 Hughes Place New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Wooster Square

The walking paths at the north end of Wooster Square Park still need to be cleared.

All the other minor paths in the park except the main walkways at the north and north-east end of the park. As the snow melts and refreeze they are becoming a fall hazard.

  • 1-21 Hughes Place New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Wooster Square

Hughes Pl, St John St, Greene St, Academy St and Wooster Pl still need to be plowed.

People are trying their best to park among the mounds of snow but some have resorted to making their own improvised spots that project into the roadway.

  • Oak St Connector & N Frontage Rd New Haven, CT - Downtown
Something needs to be done to regulate the cars merging off the Oak St Connector leading to the traffic light at the intersection of North Frontage and College St. I cannot tell you how many times I've had near misses with drivers who completely disregard the Yield sign and push their way onto North Frontage. This is dangerous and it's a matter of time before there is an accident or someone gets hurt.
