Pavement on Townsend Avenue

  • 5200 Park Blvd Oakland, California, 94611 - Oakmore
Large pothole in right lane, downhill direction of Park Blvd. This is only one of about 10 to 15 similarly-sized potholes between Esates Dr. and Hiway 13 on Park Blvd., all lanes and in both directions. Drivers, including me, swerve or straddle the potholes to avoid damage to vehicle - very dangerous situation. Actually needs repaving ultimately - as reported for YEARS! City waiting to reduce lanes?? That will be a colossal mistake, don't do it!
  • Park Blvd Oakland, CA, 94611, USA - Oakmore
On the north side of Park Blvd., just off the street, PG&E has worked numerous times over the past few years and created a "high spot" or area in the dirt siding that prevents proper drainage of rainwater during and after storms. This water creates a hazard, since it ponds in the right lane (heading West, down Park) and just off the road as well. It should be a relatively simple fix to correct and enable this area to drain as it used to years ago. PG&E has not responded to previous notes about this, nor has the City when I reported it previously. PG&E was working in this area again earlier this week.
  • 4101-4127 Woodruff Ave Oakland, CA, 94602, USA - Glenview
  • 1300-1498 Glenfield Ave Oakland, CA, 94602, USA - Glenview
Chevy SUV with a flat right rear tire has been parked at same location without moving for many weeks.
  • 1342-1498 Everett Ave Oakland, CA, 94602, USA - Glenview
There has been a temporary patch over a water main break for many months, and consequently there is a depression in the paving on Everett. The City needs to force EBMUD to make a long-overdue proper repair/patch to this pavement.
  • 933 Alma Pl Oakland, CA, 94610, USA - Trestle Glen
The traffic signal at the intersection of Park Blvd. and Grosvenor Pl. is not timed properly on Thursday mornings - this was reported previously and then closed, but it has NOT been corrected. The downhill traffic through the intersection (on Park Blvd.) has about 5 seconds of a green light, rather than the normal 15-20 seconds on other weekday mornings. This causes serious backups on Park Blvd. during commute hours.
  • Piedmont Ave & Monte Vista Ave Oakland, CA, 94611, USA - Piedmont Avenue

    The
"STOP " lettering was ground out of the pavement a few days ago on Piedmont Avenue, in the direction from 40th St. towards Monte Vista. The "STOP AHEAD" lettering is still present between 40th and Monte Vista, but the stop sign is obscured by many trees - I've seen about 4 people blow right through this stop sign in the last week as a result. This was a three way stop intersection, stop signs at all 3 directions into the intersection.

If this is no longer a stop, then the sign should be removed - but I suspect new lettering is supposed to be added on street? It should be done ASAP, before cars and/or people are hurt by someone driving through the stop; this type of change should be done immediately (replacing lettering on the street), particularly in a case like this where the sign itself is very hard to see.

  • Piedmont Ave Oakland, CA, 94611, USA - Piedmont Avenue
There is a significant "bump" on created elevation of pavement just past the intersection of Piedmont Ave. and MacArthur, on east bound MacArthur. This bump exists in about 1/2 of the far left lane and the second lane only - removal of this excess asphalt (removal of the "excess" or "bump" would be all that's needed. It no doubt causes damage to vehicles traveling at the speed limit if they go over the bump. This should be a relatively easy, and inexpensive fix to an issue that has existed for a least a few months.
  • Park Blvd Oakland, CA, 94611, USA - Oakmore
Recent storms have created even more potholes and made the many existing ones worse, on Park Boulevard between Leimert and Monterey Boulevard. There is one very large, hazardous one just prior to Monterey Blvd. in there North bound lane on Park. These many potholes need repair before numerous vehicles experience damage.
  • 1507 Wellington St Oakland, CA, 94602, USA - Glenview
Curb is broken and concrete pieces are spalling off onto the street and in parking area. The damage was incurred during PG&E's gas line replacement in 2017 - but City didn't require PG&E's contractor to replace despite the damage (they broke the curb and "replaced" concrete chunks) they did to the curb.
  • 1523 Wellington St Oakland 94602, United States - Glenview
Storm drain inlet at Wellington just off Townsend is plugged with debris and needs to be cleaned/cleared. Storm water flowing downTownsend can’t enter and flows in sheet flow across Wellington during storms. Happens every year, City crews have come in past years to clean prior to or early in storm season.
  • 1483 Wellington Street Oakland, California - Glenview
There has been construction activity on Wellington, Everett and La Cresta for the past several months - there is considerable debris from this activity in the storm drain catch basins in this area - that will block storm water runoff, during heavy rain events in particular, from entering the system - potential localized flooding could occur as a result. The City needs its crews to clean these catch basins since they obviously didn't make the contractors do it already - before winter rains begin.
  • 1477-1483 Wellington Street Oakland, California - Glenview
A paving contractor is now in the neighborhood following the PG&E work of the past few months. This contractor needs to be inspected closely by the City's PW inspectors - today they had trucks that blocked driveways, and their grinding equipment appears to have damaged at least one tree on Townsend, breaking limbs off a tree. The City needs to monitor the contractor to help preserve access to private driveways and prevent damage to the beautiful curbside trees in this neighborhood - some inconvenience is inevitable, but the contractor needs to take reasonable care and take the time necessary to avoid unnecessary damages

1507 Wellington Street Oakland, California - Glenview

PG&E project - subcontractors working on sidewalk replacements as result of PG&E work continue to show a blatant disregard for personal property - they leave broken concrete & debris from newly poured sidewalks on lawn areas, and have damaged lawn drip irrigation systems without returning to repair them. I was jokingly told by the sub that they have a "half a**" plumber" following behind them - who repaired two breaks in my lines, but never came back to fix the other 4 (which i did myself eventually) - the sub just laughed when I told him other repairs were still needed and said "I told you about the quality of the plumber". Where is the City and PG&E inspection of this project? This would not be tolerated in other cities in which I have worked and lived, we're getting little to no help from City and PG&E - they have also left a gap of a few inches between the new sidewalk areas and lawns and median strips for a couple of weeks now; hopefully no ones injures themselves before they fill in this gap - but I guess I shouldn't even assume they will do this since I haven't seen them fill in any yet since this sidewalk work started 2 1/2 weeks ago. They apparently ran out of concrete last week and have left one sidewalk section of a few feet on Wellington Street "open" the past 4+ days.

I hope the City inspectors can provide some desperately needed oversight and direction to this cowboy subcontractor.

  • 1507 Wellington Street Oakland California - Glenview
PG&E's contractor is replacing gas mains and gas service lines to homes in the Wellington, Townsend, Everett Streets area. In addition to their potholing and planned excavations, there are several places they have gouged the pavement and there are several "alligatored"areas indicating pavement failure that were NOT present prior to start of construction in late 2016 - I sure hope the City videoed the area before construction, and holds PG&E responsible for fixing this at the end of their project - Wellington was repaved a handful of years ago, very disappointing to see decent pavement (that we hadn't had for years) become deteriorated by the contractor so quickly.
  • Townsend Avenue Oakland, CA - Glenview
There are several significant depressions over what appears to be sewer laterals along Townsend Avenue. These have been present for at least 25 years, probably due to a poor compaction of material over the lines. The result is a depression or "trough" in the pavement perpendicular to the street direction in several locations, very hard on autos and their suspensions.
