    Saw a large rat just now (daytime) in my front yard and one yesterday in the side yard. The neighbor also mentioned that she had one that did not leave the garden where she was working on Saturday. We have been paying for monthly inspection/baiting for years, as do neighbors on either side of our property, but sightings have only gotten worse during that time. I'm guessing that daytime sightings mean that the rats are more plentiful and less fearful of humans.

    I just saw two rats running down Fainwood within a short period of time. Seeing rats in the neighborhood after dark has become so common that it's hardly worth reporting them. With several neighboring buildings, we've been paying a professional pest service for monthly inspections and baiting for more than two years, and we've taken all of the steps on the city's website to secure trash and keep the yard clean, but it's had no effect on the number of rats coming through our property every day. It would be great if the city could increase inspection and enforcement on properties around the area.

    For at least the past few weeks there has been a continuous, high-pitched whining noise that persists for several hours at a time. Tonight it started at about 6 pm, and it's still happening at 10 pm. We can hear it clearly from inside our home, as can our neighbors. We've tried following the noise in the past, and it seems to be coming from the area around Spaulding Hospital.
