The pedestrian walk signal at MLK and Cherry Street is not long enough. More people cross here due to new businesses on this side of MLK and many slow elderly crossers are crossing to go to terminal station. I have watched this intersection since March and have had to go outside and actually stop traffic for several people who couldn’t get across without it. Many vehicles run the light while on MLK and it takes away the time from pedestrians as well as cars on either side of the Cherry Street lights. Also, cars turning from Cherry do not have much time to turn if there is a pedestrian crossing. This should also be a “no u-turn” area. Cars attempt the u-turn but encounter the fire hydrant which causes them to complete several other maneuvers to complete this u-turn. It is unsafe and also takes away from crossing time if done as the light is turning red, which it often is.
