  • 1417 Cottage St Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda

Resident at 1417 Cottage St illegally reserves parking spaces using bins and traffic cones. She immediately reports those who park in front of her house to parking enforcement, even if they are known to her to be neighbors.

Not sure which department to report this to exactly, I'm hoping someone can point me to the right place.

  • 1400-1508 San Antonio Ave Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda
The walkway lamps at Franklin Park are flashing on and off erratically. It's like a scene out of a horror movie
  • 1601 Central Ave Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda
The NE corner of Paru St. and Central Ave. is the home to not one but two! abandoned shopping carts. The second one seems to have appeared not long ago. The first has been there for months, maybe even close to a year. The shopping carts have been accumulating soiled doggy bags. Pretty gross. I'm surprised they've been there for so long
  • Benton St & Encinal Ave Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda

Using the crosswalk at Benton and Encinal often feels quite dangerous, and I'm sure others who visit the shops (grocery, hair salons, chinese, etc.) on the south side of Encinal would agree.

Encinal is an artery of Alameda, and has long, straight, dual-lane roads, which unfortunately encourages speeds exceeding 35 MPH. This layout can also produce a dangerous set of circumstance wherein a motorist traveling westbound on the north-most lane can not see a pedestrian crossing if the motorist in the south-most westbound lane is stopped before the crosswalk—their ability to see the start of the crosswalk at the south side of Encinal is completely obscured, and I've nearly seen a woman get hit this way when a motorist, unaware anyone was crossing, blew through the crosswalk.

Worse, the south side of the crosswalk is wedged in the middle of a line of street parking spaces, and so there is very poor visibility looking west down Encinal when trying to cross from the south. I often very cautiously stick my head out to ensure there are no motorists, and I've almost been clipped once.

Additionally, there is a blind man who lives in this neighborhood who often crosses this street with the help of his guide dog, but even then I've seen him almost get hit.

I'm not sure what I would propose here. I feel like a traffic light or stop signs would be overkill, however they might help decrease speeds on this street. The crossing at Encinal and Paru, also a little risky but less-so than Benton, employs light-up crossing lights (although they were broken last last I checked).

My girlfriend and I occasionally talk about how one day someone's going to get killed there. I've thought about bringing it up with the city government, but I wouldn't know where to start. I highly encourage a safety assessment of this crosswalk.
