The man hole cover directly outside our home at 210 Oakridge Ave North Attleboro MA has flooded with raw sewage multiple times over the span of a year now. Michael Sousa from the Wastewater Treatment Facility has been responsive in coming to drain the man hole when it gets full of sewage and starts leaking onto the road (which cars drive over and unknowingly drag raw sewerage down the street) but that is not a good enough solution, we need a permanent fix.

I was told last year (2020) that there is a small break in the sewer main pipe which persistently leaks sewerage into the manhole 100% of the time and right now the only solution is to wait until the man hole gets full then I have to call the town to pump it all out.

We live in a residential area with kids and a lake right nearby. This is a health hazard, it smells terrible and the town isn't doing enough to permanently solve the problem. As I understand it there is a special piece that is required in order to permanently fix the issue and since our street uses a gravity based system, the homes up the street would likely have to stop using water/toilets etc. during the fix. Until that happens the neighborhood should know that sewage is leaking in the road.
