Press button. Wait for two cycles of motor traffic to have green. Then works. (Supposed to be one cycle.) (I think this is for Alameda DPW not OakDOT).

  • 1454 Sherman St Alameda 94501, United States - Alameda

Thank you for the new stop signs at Sherman and Santa Clara. It’s now faster and safer to travel on Sherman St, and when driving on Santa Clara, it is less likely that a pedestrian or bicyclist or person on scooter or motorist will be trying to quickly get across the street while you are driving. And for cars crossing Santa Clara, it no longer requires easing out into the bike lane to see cross traffic.

Also, thank you for the temporary signs that provide an advance notification of the changed traffic condition.

    Chestnut & Encinal - Alameda

Currently, when crossing Encinal via Chestnut, there is a pedestrian crossing signal. However, when crossing Chestnut via Encinal, there is not a pedestrian crossing signal. This intersection is used often by children and adults going to nearby businesses, schools, and church.

A pedestrian button may not be needed, but a signal (walk / blinking walk / don’t walk) or (walk / countdown) might increase safety. It might provide more awareness for pedestrians than the simple (red, yellow, green) and more awareness to drivers to double-check for pedestrians.
