A motorist has parked into the Walker Street bike lane. This happens daily, even during times when the Mayor’s Special Events hasn’t rented the bike lane as a parking space.

People who walk and roll are forced to use the car lanes to pass the blocking cars. It is extremely dangerous to veer into the driving lanes as a vulnerable road user.

Over 32 dangerously tall bollards without led lights were added on the trail on areas with low visibility such as behind a corners, shadows of the highways above, early morning or sunset sun rays.

The bollards should be lover so that they don’t hit the handle bars of bikes and they must have led lights since this trail does not have lights.

Extremely dangerous during dusk, dawn and dark time when those who ride bikes might not able to detect the bollards soon enough.

Also could there be less of these bollards? In less than a half a mile stretch there are 32 bollards. Maybe adding bollards on areas where cars tend to access the trail instead of having bollards every 100 yards.

Fences were added to the trail. This leaves no escape for runners, walkers and people on bikes in a case of mugging.

By taking the fences down, the trail users don’t get trapped if mugging happens and they have more options to escape the dangerous situation.

Cars are parked on this already very narrow sidewalk. At this stretch of Commerce St there is only this sidewalk available for walkers, wheelchair users and strollers. When the cars are parked on it, it forces the sidewalk users choose the road instead. It’s dangerous.

The Commerce Street Rehabilitation Program was set to start in summer 2023. This rehab promised to include protected bike lanes for the safety for those who roll in the street with high speeds, big trucks and SUV's who's drivers are struggling to see other road users.

I'm urging to the city start this life saving rehabilitation project now in order to safe lives and reduce injuries caused by speeding motorists that talk in their phones or drive under influence in this cyclist and pedestrian preferred road.
