    This intersection has several embedded rail tracks that are abandoned and badly damaged. The gaps where the track sections are missing are dangerous to bike riders. Tires get damaged and can get caught the the ruts causing the rider to loose control. The tracks don't need to be ripped out, if the ruts were filled in level with the pavement it would solve the problem. And be much safer. The whole length of Illinois is like this. Please help!

    The deep ruts between the abandoned embedded rail track and the road surface cause a major bike safety problem. The bike tires get caught in the rut causing the rider to loose control. This particular spot is bad due to the bike lane being closed during building construction. The entire length of Illinois st has abandoned track with deep ruts. You don't need to go as far as ripping out the track, just put black top in the rut to even it out with the road surface. Many riders have gone down, including myself trying to cross these tracks while riding parallel.

    The abandoned light rail tracks down Illinois have been the cause of several bicycle accidents. The ruts can catch and hold bike tires causing riders to loose control. Due to excessive double parked cars and unloading trucks it is nearly impossible to avoid having to cross the tracks while riding parallel to them. I personally have had 2 injury accidents and several near falls because of the deep ruts. Please fill in the ruts on the abandoned tracks even if you leave the rail. Just filling in the rut will make them safer to cross while riding parallel to the tracks.
