  • 2719–2763 E Seventh St Oakland 94601, United States - South Kennedy Tract
Eastbound E 7th St east of 23rd Ave, bike wayfinding sign has been tagged, and was hit by a vehicle knocking it sideways. Please clean the sign and reinstall it, thanks.

2050–2054 Harrison St Oakland 94666, United States - Downtown

This morning I saw a driver enter the protected bikeway along Lakeside and Harrison, hit a maintenance vehicle, reverse at speed to the intersection of Lakeside/Harrison, and then leave without making a report. Drivers frequently enter the cycletrack either intentionally or by accident, because the openings at several intersections are wide enough for them to do so.

Please add additional posts or extend the concrete curbs to avoid this in the future. Luckily this time there was only property damage, but next time it could be worse.

  • 2426 Valdez St Oakland 94612, United States - Waverly
Multiple dumpsters placed blocking the west side of the new midblock crosswalk on Valdez Street between 24th and 26th Streets. Please follow up to ensure that these dumpsters have a place to live that doesn’t block the crosswalk.
  • 300–398 23rd St Oakland 94612, United States - Waverly
Valdez is no longer one-way, so please remove the “no left turn” sign on eastbound 23rd St at Valdez, and replace it with a “cross traffic does not stop” sign since this is a 2-way stop.

6200 Shattuck Ave Oakland Ca - Bushrod
The red curb northbound before the crosswalk at 6200 Shattuck needs to be repainted red, to help discourage drivers from parking here and blocking the visibility between drivers and pedestrians entering the crosswalk.

6214 Shattuck Ave Oakland Ca - Bushrod
The red curb northbound before the crosswalk at 6214 Shattuck needs to be repainted red, to help discourage drivers from parking here and blocking the visibility between drivers and pedestrians entering the crosswalk.

6523 Shattuck Ave Oakland Ca - Bushrod

2930 Lakeshore Ave Oakland 94610, United States - Cleveland Heights
The red curb on eastbound Lakeshore before Beacon needs to be repainted, to make it more clear this is a “no parking” zone. Drivers frequently park here blocking the sight lines between the street and this uncontrolled crosswalk. Additional features like a sidewalk extension using paint and posts would also be appreciated.

454 W Macarthur Blvd Oakland 94609, United States - Mosswood

The westbound W MacArthur bike lane ahead of Ruby and Latimer was recently replaced after paving. The new bike lane line was dashed leading up to each of these intersections, which was an error since there is no right turns allowed onto these one way streets.

I reported this and requested that the buffer lane lines be changed to solid stripes. After that the inside bike lane buffer line was fixed, but the outside line is still dashed at each location. Please go back one more time to fix this at both intersections and re-stripe the outside lane line as solid, not dashed, to make it more clear that there are no right turns allowed.

  • Sidewalk - Damage Acknowledged
569–591 Third St Oakland 94607, United States - Old City-Produce And Waterfront
Sidewalk on the south side of 3rd Street between Jefferson and Clay is very broken and not easily traversable by people using mobility devices. There are also several unused curb cuts on this block that no longer lead to driveways, so the sidewalk should be rebuilt with a continuous curb.

5833 Shattuck Ave Oakland 94609, United States - Bushrod
The crossing of Shattuck at 59th Street is hazardous for people biking & walking, and needs to be upgraded, ideally with a stop sign or signal. The east side of 59th is blocked to car traffic so this is an ideal way for people to walk to and from Bushrod Park, and 59th could be a great bike boulevard due to that diverter and the existing signals at MLK and Telegraph. Please prioritize a crossing upgrade at this intersection.

229 Brush St Oakland 94607, United States - Old City-Produce And Waterfront

A new sidewalk on the south side of 3rd St between Market and Brush as part of a PG&E leaves only 3 feet of clearance between the edge and the empty tree well. 4’ clearance is the minimum for ADA compliance, and wider is preferred.

Please send the PG&E crew back to this location to ensure that the sidewalks installed are fully accessible and compliant.

  • 5151 Broadway Oakland 94611 United States - Shafter
Bike rack outside of 5151 Broadway, west side of street south of Coronado, was struck and damaged by a vehicle. Please replace.

2310 Fulton St Berkeley 94704, United States - Berkeley
Southbound Fulton Street between Bancroft and Durant, moving trucks and delivery vehicles frequently stop in and block the separated bike lane, despite the green paint and posts. This is especially bad at the beginning & end of the UCB school year when students are moving. Please increase enforcement at this block (including weekends and evenings - this photo was on a Sunday at 11am), and install additional barriers to make it more difficult for drivers to enter the bikeway.

2429 Valdez St Oakland 94612, United States - Waverly
The new developer-installed bike racks along Valdez Street between 24th and 26th Streets are insecurely installed. Please follow up with the developer to have them replaced with something like standard inverted-U racks that meet Oakland bike parking guidelines. The new bike racks at the other development just south of 24th St are much better.

2429 Valdez St Oakland 94612, United States - Waverly
Northbound Valdez St between 24th and 26th Streets, developer-installed “sharks teeth” advance yield markings before the midblock crosswalk in the northbound direction are backwards. The point of the arrow needs to face car traffic, not toward the crosswalk. Please have the contractors fix this.

130 Webster St Oakland 94607, United States - Old City-Produce And Waterfront

The metered parking spot on northbound Webster Street just before 2nd St needs to be removed and replaced with a red curb “no parking” zone. Parked cars at this location block the view of the unmarked crosswalk on the south side of this intersection crossing Webster, creating a pedestrian hazard. 2nd at Webster is also a 2-way stop location, as well as a designated bicycle boulevard and Bay Trail route, but the lack of visibility for cross traffic makes the intersection more hazardous.

MUTCD standards also reinforce that at least one stall length ahead of every intersection should have parking prohibited.

  • 2801 Summit St Oakland 94609, United States - Pill Hill
28th St in the intersection with Summit, pothole in the middle of the lane.

Embarcadero Oakland 94606, United States - Produce And Waterfront

The eastbound bike lane across the new Embarcadero Bridge has four metal grates (two on each end) which are made up of 3 removable segments each. These segments have significant gaps between them such that there is no continuous cross bar, creating a gap parallel with the roadway that could easily catch a bicycle wheel and cause a bad crash.

Please replace these grates with something that is safer, ideally a single piece that isn’t easily removable, with a tighter spacing between the bars in each direction, and definitely continuous crossbars with no gaps.
