It is Saturday and at 230 Bay Street, and since 8am this morning, construction is occurring. It is NOT quiet work, they are hammering, drilling, and cutting metal framing. This building has no windows so there is nothing to control the noise.

The construction at 226 Bay Street not only blocks the sidewalk, but they use the construction barriers at night to provide a 'temporary walk' in front of the building and to guarantee parking in front of the building the next day by pushing the orange barriers onto the curb for contractor parking. Pedestrians are now forced to walk in the street.
There needs to be a point when blocking a sidewalk for construction ends. There is clearly enough room to restore the sidewalk for pedestrians provided contractors working at 226 Bay clean up their site. Residents and anyone using a sidewalk in front of a construction site should not have to wait for construction to complete for restoration of sidewalk access.

It is Saturday, April 23, 2022. There are people performing demolition work on 230 Bay Street at 8:10 am and I doubt they are permitted to work on Saturday. They are tearing interior walls down (ie hammering) and throwing the waste out the 1st story window.

211 - 233 Bay Street, the portion between Grove and Erie, for the third Thursday in a row now, did not have cardboard recycling picked up. Last week (1/20), they 'claimed' it was because the street block.

We have a storm coming and cardboard boxes that were not picked up last night and will turn to mush and/or get frozen in place. And now we have city employees forced to perform the work that a contracted company chose to ignore.

Hudson Hound's outdoor dining structure is blocking the no parking from here to corner sign. Additionally, it looks like attempts have been made to remove the sign -- as if removing the sign erases the New Jersey state law about parking too close to a crosswalk. Can a new sign get placed between this structure and the corner with
    No
    Parking
    <-->
This corner receives a lot of pedestrian traffic and cars parking close to the crosswalk create a hazardous situation for pedestrians since vehicles parked close to an intersection obstruct the pedestrian's view down the street they are attempting to cross. It also obstructs visibility a car has as they approach this corner.

There is always a car parked in the area between Hudson Hound's outdoor eating structure and the corner NE corner of Bay and Erie Street. There is no parking, yet cars still park there.
A lot of pedestrians walk on the east side (same side as Hudson Hound) and a car illegally parked blocks pedestrian visibility down Bay Street. On the past weekend, 2 cars were squeezed in that spot, one of which was blocking the crosswalk.

May I ask that parking enforcement checks this when they are in the area? Cars are frequently illegally parked in the no parking from here to corner on both sides of Bay at Erie Street.

This is a vacant, blighted property at 230 Bay Street. The building has been vacant for over a 1.5 years and there has been zero upkeep on it. There is graffiti on the west facing facade; dirt was dumped on the property when water main work was performed; trees are overgrown; there is often standing water to the left of the stairs; white paint was dumped on the brickwork fence; full, uncovered trash cans.

'Halal' Food Cart is OPERATING ILLEGALLY in the downtown SID on the corner of Bay Street and Erie Street. The license plate on this trailer is TVX-24K / NJ. This cart sets up at 11:00 pm and operates until past 2 am, ILLEGALLY. This cart is placed in a no parking area and blocks visibility at a busy intersection. A complaint has been made to Police non-emergency and WOTS weekly and yet this cart is able to continue to operate illegally. Why? Because of lack of enforcement. How many times does it take for quality of life issues to get addresses and this time by someone who is clearly ignoring the ordinances governing this area?

See - Click - Ignore as yet again, a food cart is set up in the downtown SID on the corner of Bay and Erie Street. Food Carts, trucks, etc. are not allowed in the downtown SID . . neither are outdoor speakers a-la Key Hole. But when there is NO ENFORCEMENT, establishments, vendors, etc. can do whatever they want, whenever they want. City Council -- why are you wasting time and tax payer resources crafting ordinances that are not enforced?

I live on Bay Street between Grove and Erie Streets. On Friday and Saturday nights, there is a food cart that is dropped off along Erie Street, typically by the Bay and Erie Street intersection. Are food carts allowed in the area of downtown - infront of homes and apartments? This issue has been reported on WOTS but the police come.

A ‘summons’ is not strong enough.

It is late Sunday, July 21, 2019 / early Monday July 22.

Talde has falsely made claims to a city official (https://seeclickfix.com/issues/5996398) that they have a recycle collections on Sundays AND Mondays. The pictures show the recycle pile started before 2:27 PM July 21 (21 hours before the 7:30 am Monday collection) is the same at 7:40 pm July 21, and the same at 12:18 am Monday, July 22. What happened to the ‘Sunday collection’ that Talde claimed to have to a city official
“Division of Sanitation - xxxx (Verified Official) no cause today restaurant has two collection time one on Sunday and another on Monday businesses are allowed to place their trash and recycling out for collection up to 8 hrs before collection” - https://seeclickfix.com/issues/5996398

Talde’s recycling is picked up Monday mornings at 7:30 AM, consistently, for weeks. Why is Talde allowed to operate in this fashion? Talde KNOWS they are doing something wrong because the recycling pile actually stopped after June 16 and they started putting it out on Sunday evenings (still beyond the 8 hours allowed), but they are back at it.

I live in this neighborhood and I should not have to look at trash piling up well before the collection time. This should not be occurring and I simply do not want my street looking like this. No other respectable restaurant operates in this fashion in the downtown area. Jersey City Government needs to ask itself “What if every restaurant in ‘Restaurant Row’ or the 'Pedestrian Mall' pulled a Dale Talde and started to operate on their own set of rules?”

I care about my neighborhood and my street and I simply do not not like the street I live on looking like this.
