    People using basketball courts regularly park on the dirt track within Calahan Park. Last Friday there were 9 cars parked along the track. I wasn't able to fit them all in one picture.

    In the past there has been "authorized vehicles only" signage, but that seems to be gone with the Gove Ct diversion for the roundabout project on Shelburne Rd.

    Unauthorized cars driving in Calahan Park has been an issue for years and greatly diminishes the value of the park for it's intended uses and is a significant hazard to small children.

    Can the Parks Dept please put up clear signage and request that BPD enforce the rules? And a proper gate would be a great addition, once the roundabout project is finished.

    I swim btwn Secret Beach and South Cove about 50 times per season and occasionally notice a faint hydro-carbon smell near the abandoned pumping structures (aka "dolphins") off of Blanchard Beach.

    However, this morning just before 9 AM another swimmer and myself experienced an overpowering petroleum smell as we swam near the dolphins. We hadn't noticed any smell when we swam south through the same area 45 minutes before. I've marked the area in yellow on the screen shot of our swim path.

    People playing basketball regularly drive on access road and park next to courts. Barriers and "authorized" vehicle only signs are simply moved out of the way. I've even seen someone drive across the soccer field from behind the tennis courts.

    Parking enforcement will respond during office hours, but the problem is most prevalent after 5 PM and the police don't have bandwidth to respond.

    It seems like a lockable gate would help limit access to authorized users.
