Park - Plumbing Acknowledged776-798 Grand Avenue Oakland, California - LakeshoreI last reported that the Splash Pad Fountain wasn't working on September 15, 2017 (Service Request # 750579). It still isn't working and, with Spring's arrival, it would be nice to get it fixed. In addition, there's now a safety issue in that one of the drainage grates is broken and someone could potentially fall through. Another safety hazard is the pool of fetid water that's visible underneath the grate which has got to be a breeding ground for bacteria and mosquitoes.

Other City Services Archived519-529 Lake Park Ave Oakland, CA 94610, USA - Lakeshorethere always seems to be litter in the gutters on Lake Park Avenue eastbound between Walker and the entrance to the parking lot under the freeway. please verify that the street sweeper is regularly cleaning this area including both sides of Eastbound Lake Park to make sure they're getting the gutter on the median as well. also please ensure that the street sweeper is simultaneously cleaning the gutters on the entrance and exit from the parking lot under the freeway.

Park - Lighting OpenGrand Avenue - Adjacent To Pillar On Sidewalk Under Freeway Oakland, California - Adams PointSomeone has removed the cover on one of the spotlights that illuminate the pillars supporting the freeway - probably looking for wiring to steal. This is on the east side of Grand Avenue and the north side of the freeway.

Illegal Dumping - debris, appliances, etc. AcknowledgedSplash Pad Park Path Oakland, California - LakeshoreTwo tents are set up in the Splash Pad Park Plaza with a few assorted belongings alongside. There are also 2 mattresses about 100 feet away next to a fern bed.

501-549 Lake Park Avenue Oakland, California - LakeshoreSomeone has dumped 4-5 cubic feet of some substance (possibly a litter box) that's filled with lots of animal feces. Of greater concern, sprinkled on top are quantities of pellets that look like rat poison - so this could be highly hazardous. Location is on the DG adjacent to the sidewalk about 25 feet east of the entrance to the parking lot under the freeway.

Park Maintenance AcknowledgedSplash Pad Park Path Oakland, California - LakeshoreThe Splash Pad fountain pump needs to be replaced and has, apparently, already been ordered. Meanwhile, the water is getting very funky and, if it isn't already infested with mosquito larvae, it soon will be. It would be great to get the fountain temporarily drained and, at the same time, I'd like to volunteer to help clean the trough (hidden under the steel plates) where dirt and trash settles to the bottom. Jaime Salazar did this a couple of times with my assistance and, at other times, on his own. My offer would apply, as well, to a later date when the new pump is installed.

Park Maintenance - Feces ArchivedSplash Pad Park Path Oakland, California - LakeshoreThere's some feces inside Splash Pad Park and since the Farmers Market is tomorrow, it would be great if this could be addressed late this afternoon. (Sorry, about the late notice). In addition to the location shown on the DG pathway just outside the Plaza, there's a second location about 50' away in the grass to the left of the walkway just before you reach the asphalt road. I've marked the spot with a small branch.

Park Maintenance - Lighting Splash Pad Park AcknowledgedSplash Pad Park Path Oakland, California - LakeshoreLast night, the only light working in Splash Pad Park was the tall street light that's adjacent to the asphalt roadway that bisects the park. Not working: uplighting under the palms at the corner of Grand and Lake Park; blue uplighting under the freeway; the four bollards that parallel the freeway; the three Names in Lights panels in the park plaza; the accent lighting in the walls of the fountain.

It's in the right lane of eastbound traffic on San Leandro Street about 100 yards east of Seminary. Park Maintenance Acknowledged750-774 Grand Avenue Oakland, California - LakeshoreThe Splash Pad fountain isn't working and, judging by the build-up of algae, it hasn't been working for a while. Franklin Reust usually maintains this on a regular basis. I'd appreciate a heads-up as to what's going on.

Illegal Dumping Archived3199 Lakeshore Oakland, California - LakeshoreThis is a follow-up to a complaint I filed on April 29 of this year (Issue ID: 3375115). The Sprint cellular phone store at the foot of Rand Avenue NEVER brings in their trash cans. I've talked to employees and the Manager and have been told that there is no room inside and the cans smell. To the best of my knowledge, neither is an acceptable excuse. As I understand the city code, trash cans are to be put out the night before and brought inside when emptied. Please enforce these requirements and, if need be, cite them for violations.

Park Maintenance - Trees Appear to be Dead Acknowledged614-632 Bellevue Avenue Oakland, California - Lake MerrittTwo trees adjacent to the entrance/exit of the Boat House parking area appear to be dead. If so, are they covered by a guarantee since they were just planted a year or so ago?

Park Maintenance - Fountain Nearly Dry AcknowledgedSplash Pad Park Path Oakland, California - LakeshoreThe fountain at Splash Pad is extremely low in water and, if it goes completely dry, the pump may overheat and fail.
-
RAT INFESTATION ArchivedSplash Pad Park Path Oakland, California - LakeshoreWe have a major rat infestation at Splash Pad Park and it's been that way for years. Please don't refer this complaint to Alameda County Vector Control as they've been out numerous times to dust the tunnels and don't have the resources to solve the problem. The best solution would be the bait stations that are installed and serviced at the Lakeview Branch Library, the Lake Merritt Garden Center and probably dozens of other locations throughout the city. This is an ongoing health hazard and also a thorn in the side of the Splash Pad Park Grand Cru volunteers who regularly work in the park maintaining the California Native plant garden and more.

Park Maintenance Archived750-774 Grand Avenue Oakland, California - LakeshoreWater in the Splash Pad Fountain is extremely low. If it goes dry, I'm afraid the pump will burn out. Please contact Franklin Reust for maintenance.

Decking Damaged Creating Tripping Hazard Acknowledged776-798 Grand Avenue Oakland, California - LakeshoreThis is a follow-up to a complaint I filed in October of last year (Report #685876). As I reported previously, the ledger installed against the Names in Lights panel has totally disintegrated and the Ipe decking has sunk approximately 3 inches - creating a severe tripping hazard. In addition, there's nothing that holds the boards in place and I'm concerned they'll disappear.

Public Works is responsible for right of way obstructions that the Bureau of Building has handled and as we sort through this internal change we may be involved again but ask that you refer complaints regarding items in the right of way to Public Works."
