Hello.
I frequently walk in Anniversary Hill Park, so I have seen the tree work that people from GTC Landscaping (and perhaps other businesses?) have been doing here during the past several weeks. I think they have done some good work. They have cleared a lot of trees and brush away from telephone poles, and they promptly took care of a large limb that came to rest upon active wires after the storm.Recently, however I am more and more frequently coming upon workers when they are taking a break. All the machines will be off and people will be looking at phones or sleeping.
Sometimes they seem surprised to see me. Often, on my way back down the hill, when I am within sight of them, they will turn some machines on, and then after I pass and am out of sight, they will turn their machines off again. But if another walker comes, the machines go back on.
I could be wrong, but recently it seems that the workers are behaving as if it is in their interest to be using they're phones more than their other machines. It seems that they have much more time and perhaps money than they need to do the work that they have been asked to do.
It really doesn't look good.
It seems that some of Holyoke's money is being wasted here. , -

Streets and Sidewalks Archived10 Saint James Avenue Holyoke, MA 01040, USA - HolyokeI have been noticing more and more fuel (oil or gas?) in the water flowing along the north side of St. James Avenue. It's coming from somewhere west of 9 St. James Avenue, and then it flows east and around the corner and into the drain on St. Jerome Avenue. On March 4, some firefighters came and looked at the situation. They said that they suspected that it was a leak from a vehicle that was not presently there. I don't know how big a problem this is. I don't want to bother people at the fire department, but oil shouldn't be flowing into the storm drain for days and days, should it?
