Barrier/Guardrail Archived1247 Geneva Road Orem, Utah - Orem
Hi,
I contacted Orem City's Facebook page with this suggestion and they recommended that I reach out to you.
The intersection at University Parkway and Geneva Road is extremely dangerous. The issue is with people leaving the Chevron station on the north-east corner trying to merge with east bound traffic on University Parkway. They are treating the turn lanes for the west bound traffic preparing to turn south on Geneva as a merging lane which essentially means they are driving directly into oncoming traffic to get into those eastbound lanes.
I've had two hard-braking situations this week alone where I've had to almost come to a complete stop to avoid a head-on collision while driving home from work. While I've been fortunate in avoiding these head-on collisions and feel that I am a good driver who remains aware of my surroundings, I feel these heard braking situations also increase my chances of being rear-ended.
Also, please keep in mind that I very rarely see people following the "No Turn on Left" sign when turning eastbound from the northbound lanes of Geneva. As I mentioned before, I live in this area and travel this intersection on a regular basis and watch about 95% of the traffic go right through that red light. This adds to the issue with cars trying to turn out of the gas station and merge onto eastbound traffic because not only are they heading into oncoming traffic, but a lot of the time, they're just hoping there's a space available for them to merge into in that eastbound lane. When there is not, they generally just stop in that center median, which increases the risk of a head-on collision.
I was wondering what the process would be for trying to get a cement median in place separating the east and westbound traffic going into that intersection to discourage people from trying to turn east out of that gas station.

Traffic Signals Archived2357-2359 South 8000 West Magna, Utah - MagnaThe left turn light on 201 at 8000 W. is way to short. It only allows 4 cars per light. Today around 4 p.m. it took about 20 minutes to get through the light.

Signal and Turn Lane Request Archived400 North Washington Blvd Harrisville, Utah - HarrisvilleAt 400 North and Washington Blvd, there is a traffic light at the intersection. Could you please add a right turn lane to 400 North westbound? And add a left turn light to Washington? I thing the left turn signals are on the wrong street.

Rough Road ArchivedLincoln Highway Salt Lake City, Utah - Salt Lake CountyWhat's the justification for such abrupt 'bump's (raw transitions to new paving) and steel plates breaching highway lanes? We hit these daily leaving SLC/80E; can't believe they are still in place.. it's been weeks. These will blow out a tire eventually! They are just under the overhanging sign halfway between cameras at MP 127.97 / 129.2. Thanks.

Pedestrian Crossing Time Too Short ArchivedMarket Street 3500 South West Valley City, Utah - West Valley CityI have a question about a traffic light and I am not sure if you can help me. If not maybe you can tell me who I can talk to. I live right by the light on 3500 s. and market street in west valley. I am ALWAYS crossing the street at the light there. That light it TERRIBLE. As soon as the light turns red I start walking. There is MANY MANY times I am not even halfway across the street and it turns green. I have been almost hit by a car so many times. I am not the only one lots of people in my neighborhood says the same thing . That light is dangerous and one day someone is going to get hit by a car. Its not like I take my time crossing the street I always walk super fast just because I know how the light is. Thanks for the help. It is on both sides of the road and it doesn't matter the time of day.

Other Archived7533-7601 West 2400 South Magna, Utah - MagnaI commute to Salt Lake from Tooele. I think that it was wrong of UDOT to do construction on both ways (I-80 and 201) into Salt Lake for Tooele County residents. This has caused a delay for residents that commute to Tooele. I also have another complain. I had a bubble on my tire, Les Schwab in Tooele said it was probably from a pothole. There were large potholes on the only lane available on westbound 201 after Magna. I would like to request the cost of a new tire due to the construction on 201.

Ramp Meters ArchivedVeterans Memorial Highway South Salt Lake, Utah - South Salt LakeSevere congestion and traffic backing up onto 3300 South from the northbound I-15 ramp meter. Wondered if it would improve the area if two cars were allowed through at a time?
