In Arvada, it is supposed to be illegal to park "recreational vehicles" on the street. The one at this location is not only parked there frequently, the people were so bold as to have an electrical outlet installed on the side of their house to plug the vehicle in. It was reported to Code Enforcement who first responded, "Is this a joke?" Then they said, "We don't have the staff to get to everything."
  • W 57th Ave & Everett St Arvada, CO, 80002, USA - Arvada
Parking of recreational vehicles on city streets is illegal, but, for some reason, some people are allowed to do this without consequence. The house at 5680 Everett is one such location. If a law does not apply equally to all, it ceases to be law, and then becomes favoritism.
  • W 57th Ave Arvada, CO, 80002, USA - Arvada
It is a violation of city code to park recreational vehicles on the street. This, however, happens on a regular basis at 8600 W. 57th Avenue. The same, Class A motor home is frequently parked next to the house at this location, on the wrong side of the street, and connected to house electricity. It has been turned in over and over again, but nothing is ever done. The vehicle was there the entire week before Christmas. By city code, any vehicle so parked is subject to ticketing and fines after three days, with fines coming every day it remains.

Noxious weeds above the height of one foot are a code violation in the city of Arvada, and, yet, these continue to be problematic throughout the city, especially along the stretch of road outlined in this issue.

For some, unknown reason, people at this address have decided it is okay to park their vehicles entirely on the sidewalk without regard for other neighbors who may need to use the sidewalk to pass, and without regard for City Code.

I witnessed a small, white car parked entirely on the sidewalk with no more than the two, driver's side wheels touching the street. I have seen this practice before on busy streets, but this is not a busy street, and there is absolutely no reason for this person to park this way. It inhibits the ability of pedestrians to pass, and forces them to walk either on the grass, or in the street. This forces handicapped people, the elderly, and even women with baby carriages to try to negotiate oncoming traffic and endanger themselves instead of using the relative safety of the sidewalk.

I wish the city would send an officer up there to remind these people that the sidewalks need to be kept open, and that they are violating their neighbors rights by blocking easy access.

Walking down 57th toward Olde Town, I noticed a yard full of weeds three, or four feet high - maybe higher! I do not know the exact address, (I did not make a record of it), but there were several yards in the general vicinity with this problem. Arvada requires weeds to be kept below one foot. Can you get someone to have these people cut down their weeds before they spread all over the neighborhood? And, don't stop there. This is happening all over the city!

They were doing this before, but, for a while, they stopped. Now they are back at it. The people at this address are parking at least one of their vehicles so that it entirely blocks the sidewalk making it impossible for anyone to pass without stepping into the street. This is a violation of City Code, but these people are repeat offenders

It is a violation of Model Traffic Code for the State of Colorado for vehicles to be parked "facing" oncoming traffic, and, yet, this is happening all over Arvada, and especially on Dudley Court.

It is unsafe for vehicles to be parked on the side of the road that faces oncoming traffic when they pull out, and also disrespectful of other drivers to do so.

Arvada needs to enforce this law before it gets out of hand. That, and people parking on sidewalks, people parked blocking driveways, and people parking on their lawns. While Arvada is slowly becoming a "Mobile Home Park," the city pats itself on the back telling themselves what a good job they do.

  • 5372 Garrison Street Arvada, Colorado - Arvada
There are too many vehicles at this location. That's fine as long as they are all legally parked. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Nearly all the time, and certainly every night, something is left parked so that it blocks the sidewalk. Often, it is a truck, but it has been a trailer, a car, or anything else they can't fit into their driveway. It would be a simple solution to park in the street, but they would rather park blocking the sidewalk, and force pedestrians into the street.
Blocking the sidewalk in any manner is a violation of Arvada City Code.
  • 5430 Dudley Court Arvada, Colorado - Arvada
By Arvada code, it is illegal to park a recreational vehicle in the street for more than 72 hours. At this location, one is frequently parked in the street and left there for four, five, or more days. Additionally, the vehicle is frequently parked "blocking the sidewalk" which is another code violation. It appears that people may be using the vehicle as additional living space.
  • 5372 Garrison Street Arvada, Colorado - Arvada
There are too many vehicles on this property, and not enough space. They have already constructed a make-shift additional driveway, but there still is not enough room for all of their vehicles, all of their equipment, and all of their trailers. So, they just park in the driveway, and leave their vehicles hanging out over, and blocking the sidewalk. These violations have been reported to the city, and the city has refused to do anything about it.
  • 5465 Flower Court Arvada, Colorado - Arvada
The trees on this property are so overgrown that they are actually touching cars parked in the street in front of the house. The city code says these branches must be 15 ft. above the street, and 10 ft. above the sidewalk. They are not, and the city is ignoring the problem, forcing pedestrians to walk around, and cars either to park somewhere else, or be covered in branches.
  • 5450 Dudley Court Arvada, Colorado - Arvada
The branches all around this house on a corner lot are hanging way too low over the sidewalk. In some places, they are almost touching the walk, and the city is doing nothing to bring them into code. I don't like to turn in my neighbors, but people need these sidewalks clear for walking. We shouldn't have to dodge branches to use public sidewalks.
  • 5665 Dover Street Arvada, Colorado - Arvada
Someone has built a concrete pad, and parked a trailer in it for the purpose of additional living space. The trailer is connected to the electricity of the house, and to the cable/satellit as well. Sometimes, the trailer is moved, but it always comes back. This is a violation of City code.
  • 8253-8299 West 57th Avenue Arvada, Colorado - Arvada
Someone who lives in this vicinity is illegally parking a trailer on the streeton the south side of 57th Avenue. Sometimes, they park it in the driveay, but they leave it blocking the sidewalk. This is illegal, and makes it difficult for people to pass.
  • 5665 Dover Street Arvada, Colorado - Arvada

This trailer has been in this driveway for over a month, and has been connected to the house electricity the entire time. In fact, it looks like the addition, (which, by the way is in violation of set back code), was built to accommodate just such an arrangement, even though this is a direct violation of City Code.

The violation has been turned in to the city, the complaint recorded, and both have been subsequently ignored.

  • 5700 Webster Str. Arvada, Colorado - Arvada
On Sundays when the Farmer's Market is taking place just west of the library, the church on the corner of 57th and Webster seems to think they have the right to reserve public parking, parking spaces on the street, for their own use. They are putting people out there to make other citizens move to other places. This is not only along the street next to their church, but extends across the street, east down 57th Avenue. The church has no right to claim these public spots. Those spots are public, and should be available like all other parking spots on a first come, first served basis.
  • 7415-7499 West 57th Avenue Arvada, Colorado - Arvada
Trees on the property at this location are hanging too close to the street and need to be trimmed. I witnessed trees actually covering the cab of a pickup truck parked at this location, and, thus, were obviously too close to the road by city code.
  • 8034-8098 Ralston Road Arvada, Colorado - Arvada
The trees on the property at this location are overgrown, and are hanging over the street to close to the road, and in violation of city code. By code, trees need to be at least 15 ft. from the street. These are hanging closer to eight feet, and need to be trimmed.
  • 52nd And Yarrow Street Arvada, Colorado - Arvada

There is a light at 52nd and Yarrow street. At this light, for east bound traffic, there is a "right turn only" lane at Yarrow. Drivers are supposed to turn right there, not go straight through the light. Instead, drivers are going straight through the turn light to get into the heavily congested "right turn only " lane for Wadsworth Bypass.

This is creating the dangerous situation of people correctly moving from the right lane into the right turn lane having to avoid the people who ignored the right turn only at Yarrow, and, instead, went straight through the light.
