The "no right turn" signs activate a few seconds AFTER the walk and bike signals turn green. This creates a hazard with cars potentially turning right on red at the exact same time that bikes or cars are heading through. The no right turn signs should turn on a few seconds BEFORE the walk/bike signs turn on. Thank you for looking into this!

In the mornings, the signal at Santa Clara Ave. and Grand St will stay green for traffic traveling on Grand and only change if traffic is detected on Santa Clara. On multiple occasions in the early mornings, I and other passengers have been stuck for on the Westbound 51A or O AC Transit bus after it pulled in to pick up passengers, because when it pulls out it does not trigger the induction loop in the traffic lane, and the loop in the bike lane is broken or not detecting the bus. The bus is stuck waiting, sometimes for multiple minutes, until another vehicle arrives to trigger the light. I have attached a photo taken from inside the bus showing its position after it pulls out from the bus stop. Please fix the loop and consider also setting the light to automatic recall since Santa Clara is the key AC Transit corridor in the City of Alameda. Thank you!

The signal phasing here is very dangerous. This has already been reported multiple times over the last few years. The northbound traffic gets the green light before the southbound traffic, even though there is no protected left turn phase. What happens is that the left turning NB traffic hesitates, waiting for the SB through traffic. When they see that it is not moving, they start turning. Right about that time, the SB traffic gets the green light, creating a collision hazard. I have never seen a signal phased this way and it is certainly non-standard.
  • Buena Vista Av:Sherman St Alameda, CA 94501, USA - Alameda
The detector is not sensitive enough to detect bicycles turning left onto EB Buena Vista from SB Sherman, despite there being a bicycle symbol and Sherman being a designated bicycle route.

  • 1537 Webster St Oakland, CA, 94612, USA - Downtown
Sloppy repair to street leaving a raised irregular bump in the bike lane, creating a hazard to people riding bikes. The contractor should properly fix the street. Note that Webster Street was repaved fairly recently and is still in good condition (PCI 93).
  • Blanding Ave & Park St Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda
This intersection used to have an advance pedestrian crossing phase for pedestrians crossing Park street at Blanding, but it seems to have gone away a week or so again. Please reinstate this phase to improve pedestrian safety.

Recent work here left a large bump from asphalt fill spanning the entire the bike lane, directly in front of Enterprise Rent a Car. This street was recently paved and the bump here presents a hazard to cyclists. Please have the contractor or responsible party restore the street to the original condition. Thank you.

  • 301-313 20th St Oakland, CA, 94612, USA - Downtown
Parking space too close to crosswalk: the last parking space on eastbound 20th street right before Harrison is too close to the curb, blocking the view of pedestrians in the crosswalk. Figure 3B-21 of the 2009 MUTCD states that the no parking zone should extend 20 feet from the crosswalk to the last parking space, and 30 feet on approach to a signal.
