  • New Scotland Avenue 12208 Albany, New York - New Scotland
This is not reporting a street light out. It is to report illegal commercial signs on National Grid light and electric poles. The signs say "CALL: we buy" Phone number on sign is 518-261-0100. Not only are these signs not legal, but they are to advertise house flippers: not the best of citizens. These are the locations:
Cardinal and New Scotland (NS), West Erie and NS, Glenwood & NS (3 signs); Harris & NS; Academy Road & NS (2 signs) Woodlawn & NS at entrance to Sage College; Lake & NS; Quail & Woodlawn; Quail in front of the First Congregational Church. There are probably other locations, but this is what I observed (so far). I hope this can be transmitted to National Grid and the crews can remove them. The signs are unsightly and house flippers should have no legitimacy in our communities, If they did, they would use normal channels of advertising..
  • North Side Central Avenue Between Lark St. And Robin St. Albany, New York - Colonie
For at least the last 4 weekends, some individual or more have dumped public trash cans along this strip. It has been consistent. This person is either drunk, destructive, ignorant or just plain angry and mean to continue to do this. Obviously, it would be good if the perpetrator would get caught, but that's unlikely.. I suggest that the trash cans be secured with 2 short chains , top and bottom to sign or lamp posts so that they cannot be tipped. Although it would take slightly longer for the DGS staff to unlocked the baskets and re-secure them, it would take much less time to do that than to pick up the dumped trash that gets spread out over sidewalks and the street and scattered by the wind.

6 Glendale Avenue Albany, New York - Helderberg
About 3 weeks ago, the street and sidewalk as well as granite curbs in front of #6 Glendale Avenue were torn up while some kind of infrastructure work was done. The "repair was some asphalt that is soft and the granite curbs have not been replaced. i am not sure the city or utility companies were even aware of the work. Is there a way this can be checked out?
  • 33 Central Avenue Albny, New York - Central Avenue
One of the 2 tandem historic lamps has been out for 3+ weeks
  • 53 Glendale Avenue Albany, New York - Helderberg
The street light is ON continuously. The pole was replaced recently, and maybe when the light was rea-installed, there may have been a mistake in installation.

This one is a wide pothole with the asphalt gone and the old brick pavers showing It is hard to avoid as it takes up a lot of the width of Ontario St. (Actually, it would be nice if all of Ontario would be back to the pavers--a touch of old Albany! But I know that's a dream, so it should be filled in....

Lake Avenue And Myrtle Avenue Albany, New York - Park South
This pothole is wide and pretty deep. It forces Southbound vehicles into the northbound lane to avoid. Really needs to be taken care of. This was reported by others, but ikt seems like nothing has yet been done.

  • End Of Lawnridge Avenue At Bethlehem Terrace Albany, New York - Helderberg
This area is overgrown and needs mowing. Unfortunately, the house occupants at the end of Grove and the house at the end of Lawnridge are not mowing this area, although it would probably take each of them 20 minutes. So when possible, can the city get this section mowed. (The good news is that the occupants of the two houses on Glendale and the one house on the West side of Grove do their bit to mow those sections of the Bethlehem terrace right-of-way
  • 51 Forest Avenue Albany, New York - Helderberg
Two story porch being held up with temporary supports. It has been like this for more than 18 months. The 1st level porch deck is deteriorated and the steps are rotted. The owner is Scott Peck, with a mailing address at the subject property.

Helderberg And Glendale Albany, New York - Helderberg
There are a couple of potholes and a rough surface at the above intersection. DGS patched holes from Helderberg and Ramsey East to Forest Avenue about 6 weeks or more ago. We thought that work would continue east through Glendale, Grove and Lawnridge, but nothing has happened. Is itpossible to get these taken care of soon. Hard to drive around them. Thanks

  • Glendale Avenue South Of Helderberg Avvenue Albany, New York - Central Avenue
Consistently, there are chronic violators of the opposite side of the street parking along this stretch of Glendale Avenue from Helderberg to the dead-end. It appears that Parking Enfoircement does not venture south of helderberg as these cars have never been ticketed. Glendale Ave is narrow, making it difficult for emergency trucks to get down and back out of the street; ditto for trash/recycle trucks. Although the illegal parking does not happen every night, it happens probably 70% of the time--one or more cars are parked. They are: A white Kia mini-SUV, a blue Pontiac, a grey Honda Civic and a Chevrolet of unknown coilor
  • Illegal Trash Archived
Northwest Corner Of Lark St And Washington Ave Albany, New York - Central Avenue
The "Big belly" Solar powered trash receptical at the NW corner of Lark Stredet and Washington Ave must have a faulty lock. The trrash deposited at that site has been spilled out on the sidewalk for at least the last 4 weeks, on and off. I would expect that the lark St or Central Ave BID people would have reported this, or the street cleaner/vacuum person employed by the Central Avenue BID. However, nothing has happended to fix or replace the bin. All that appears to be needed is a new bin or a lock repair. The trash is probably pulled out and picked through by deposit bottle scavengers, or by obnoxious drunks or kids. It is a very poor image at one of the most prominent intersections in Albany. Let's get a repaired or new bin there ASAP (and how about getting the BIDs to be more pro-active and vigilant??)

  • Bethlehem Terrace Right-Of-Way Between Lawnridge Ave And Grove Ave Albany, New York - Helderberg
This part of the "Paper Street" public ROW has not been mowed. One would hope that the grove Ave resident(s) and the Lawnridge Avenue resident(s)--at least the ones at the end of both blocks, would mow. But they don't. (The Bethlehem Terrace ROW between Grove and Glendale and Glendale and Forest are taken care of by the residents)
