I have contacted Walter @ Code Compliance. He forwarded my letter about the issue to Deputy Director Nicholas Montry, however I have still have yet to receive a response after a week. Here is my letter on the issue!
    Good morning,
I have left voice-mail for you as well, as instructed by your office. I am "concerned" at this point about the growing daily number of homeless tents popping up in the on/off ramps next to my home and rental duplex @ 496 & Cedar. Last week when I called, there was one tent at the top of the on ramp. Now there is at least 4 more this week on the other side of the off ramp. These folks are dropping their trash, defecating, walking through & congregating on our street! I have lived here since 2008, with minimal issues in this neighborhood. We have cameras all over our property now, because homless issues have been arising the past 2 years! I have homeless people walking up to my door begging, wandering around my front & back yards at night and leaving my gate open for my dog to escape! One got in my garage and was using my hot tub - so I had to start locking the room! The house across the street is our rental income property. It is my responsibility as a landlord to provide a nice environment for my tenants. If they feel threatened or uncomfortable living amongst a homless camp - which was not there when they moved in, they will leave! That is my livelihood that is at stake here, not just an inconvenience around my homestead! We take great pride in our homes here on Beech Street. We've always remained in compliance with ordinance & code compliance for licensing. The city should not allow this problem to escalate as it has in other cities around the country. We have worked hard for these homes, and I know the city of Lansing has been transforming and growing in a good way! This is not the way the busiest exit to our Capitol, Stadium, Event Center should look to visitors, let alone the people who live, work & pay their taxes! I would like to have communication on what is being done about this issue and why they have been allowed to set these tents up. It is also happening by the railroad tracks, in the community garden, on Kalamazoo Street by Dicker & Deal.
Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. If you are not the person I need to address this issue with please forward this letter or let me know who to reach out to.

.in front of my neighbors house, is a barrel that the city put out 2 years ago. It is covering a large hole that I reported twice, when workers were in the area for other issues. All they did was put a barrel over it. I have reported this issue with 2 other tickets I opened for other reasons. Those issues get taken care of, but the hole is not. If a car comes close to it, it is large enough that a tire will get caught and possibly open wider. Will this ever be fixed?

In front of my neighbors house, there is a washout next to a sewer drain. This has created a dangerous sink hole that runs under the road, in front of the driveway we share. It has been this way for 2 years. When a crew was out early last spring to address another issue, I called it to their attention. They put an orange barrel out there, but never came back to address it. Barrel is still there! Hoping that once the snow melts this problem will be addressed.
