My wife and I walked Lake Merritt with our dog this morning and were shocked to see the amount of garbage dumped, graffiti, homeless camps and filth happening in the crown jewel of Oakland. Are you aware that the whole lake is a garbage dump? It's awful! This is a public park paid for by the taxpayers of Oakland. It needs to be maintained and kept clean at the basic level. Why isn't it being taken care of? The public tennis court is a homeless encampment. Garbage is strewn everywhere all over the once beautiful landscaping. How can you say you represent the people of the great city of Oakland and let this happen? I've never seen it this bad, it's disgusting! The garbage cans haven't been emptied (at the simplest level) and the trash is spilling out all over! Where is the law enforcement? Where are the clean up crews? It's heartbreaking! I hope you can please step in and help prioritize this issue and not let this continue.
