These dogs seem well fed, however the dog houses are falling apart and one igloo has no floor, just dirt floor. Redish dog is actually creamy white but is always red. He/she in particular prompted this report. Before seeing us he was sleeping in his empty water bucket rather than doggouse. They need hay and better doghouses before the real Temps get worse.

Just moved to this area and am appalled at the condition it's being allowed to be in. Kroger trash everywhere on one side. Are they not required to maintain a certain level of cleanliness?

Unexpected issues with our pets can create unexpected cost. While we love our animals, this can be a burden to lower income families. Currently in effect the ordinance does not yet allow any form of relief regarding fees. it's unbelievably heartbreaking to be told you're beloved pet will be examined for possible adoption or otherwise be "destroyed by euthanasia" (quoting Karen Hill Sheppard) if fee isn't paid within three days. This is absurd.
These are our pets and do not deserve either of those options. they deserve every chance to return to their loving families. Lack of funds for fees within the 3 days is causing lower income families to lose pets. This literally puts them in the rotation of homeless animals. The pets and loving families do not deserve such traumatic events due to animals being animals. Sometimes regardless of our efforts they get loose. it's a normal occurance for the shelter. We should be able to make payment arrangements the day we call for our babies that are lost. No citizen of Huntsville or otherwise should go through traumatic pet loss over their financial situations. There is an open petition currently signed by 107 ppl wanting the same issue resolved.
