I found this Irrigation Control Valve cover in Harrison Park > West end - center; basically across from Burns/Kish. I propped it up against a tree.

This is more of an inquiry. Can Mason Street (typically floods with rains) get curb drains like those on Dyer?

I am concerned for the children safety who reside within this property. The fence is broken in multiple places, exposing sharp edges/points. Thank you for helping us keep the kids safe!

There is plenty of street parking & no reason to hurt the environment & ruin what was once a beautiful backyard with raised flower beds/play area for the children that reside within.

The lids to the garbage cans are never closed, resulting in constant garbage about the alley. This week, an occurrence I have never seen before - clothing. Please help me keep this area clean on a continual basis by working something out with the landlord/s.
I truly appreciate your assistance!!! Thank you!

I would hate for someone to get hurt by the barbed wire which is now at a low level. Please can this fence be removed immediately.
Also, what can we do about this unsightly abandoned parking lot?
Thank you for looking into this!

It snowed DAYS AGO...WHY doesn't Hammond CARE about its people? PEOPLE walk...you can see the tracks. I posted a pic about this LAST YEAR just after NEW YEARS as well. I do not understand. Saddened to see this neglect. I just may shovel it myself.

This is an INQUIRY. >>> I wonder if the City of Hammond would consider vacuuming LEAF WASTE. I just heard a very informative piece on NPR regarding leaf waste & how it is NOT good for leaves to go into landfills.
The town of Munster has the following statement on their website, including State Law prohibits leaves in landfills. >>>
Fall leaf collection occurs between early October and early December. Leaves are collected approximately every two weeks. State law prohibits disposal of leaves in landfills, so leaves in bags will not be picked up by the Town or Waste Management. Please rake leaves to the curb or up to the street in long wind rows so they can be vacuumed by our crews.
THANK YOU for your CONSIDERATION to protect our environment by changing our leaf waste collection method.
  • 165th & Hohman Avenue Hammond, in - Hammond
Today I took a walk along the Lyman bike path. My plan was to walk North from Harrison Park on Lyman to 165th to Hohman South completing my 'circle'. When I approached 165th the bike path ended continued up & over 165th. Since I needed to turn at 165th, I walked in the grass. But, I was really scared when I turned right onto 165th to find NO sidewalk. Must Kenwood students go up and over 165th to access the sidewalk on the South side of the street (with the busy gas stations) when Kenwood is on the Northwest corner? I guess that is doable. Just so curious. I wonder if a bike path could be created for those who do not wish to continue South of 165th. I also wonder if a sidewalk on the North side of 165th could be put in. Thank you.

The situation is MUCH, MUCH better. Still, can't understand why ALL trash is not in either the garbage or recycling container.

On my daily walk, Saturday, April 8, I passed a large group of children playing on the jungle gyms. Concerned, I took a photo. The children inquired as to why I was photographing them. I told them about See Click Fix. They responded that they wanted to pose for a photo. NOTE 2 things in the photo: 1) the wet foot prints 2) the mom in the background/white SUV > she had just pulled up & was yelling at the children to get off of the jungle gyms & out of the gross water.
Recently at a town meeting, a quote stunned me, "...just be glad the water is not in your basements." My response to that is >>> Material items should NOT be more important than the SAFETY of our Children!!!
The Harrison Park playground has not been up to CODE for at least five years and NOW with the pool of water surrounding it, an even greater safety risk. The children of this specific neighborhood are being turned away from outdoor, healthy activities. What will the ultimate result of this be? Certainly, not a positive one.
PLEASE Hammond, we MUST find the MEANS to HELP HARRISON PARK be SAFE for the Children!
