There are frequent accidents at the intersection of 31st and Market Street because motorist crossing Market are frequently unaware that the Northbound traffic on Market street does not have a stop sign. This is particularly true of motorist heading east who have just turned off of San Pablo. We are still dealing with a car that was abandon after it was totaled by another motorist who failed to yield the right of way as he attempted to cross Market street. That was back in December. We average at least once accident a month at this intersection. Neighbors are frequently awakened in the middle of the night by these collisions. Please add signage at the intersection's southeast (3046 Market Street corner) corner indicating that cross traffic does not stop and paint right-of-way arrows on the ground indicating that cross traffic does not stop. We have a small low-profile traffic island with no signage alerting southbound motorists on Market street of the traffic island's existence. The illumination from nearby street lights does not extend to the traffic island. This makes it even harder for drivers to visually detect the traffic island from within the shadow zone created at the edge of the surrounding lights. Consequently, motorists are constantly hitting or driving over the traffic island or driving into the oncoming northbound traffic lane when trying to avoid it at the last minute. The island is also the midpoint for the intersection's cross walk. Thus placing pedestrians traffic at risk as well. Please place a traffic sign on the island with a right facing chevron to indicate cars should veer right along with several lane divider flex stakes on the double yellow lines leading up to the island to give motorist ample visual warning of the island's presence. Nearby neighbors are continually awakened in the middle of the night by car accidents at this intersection. The island's landscaping is maintained by the neighbors as a community project so please DO NOT cement the whole thing over. - thank you.
