The city has put in back-in angle parking just north of City Hall. Every single Saturday, someone parked in that parking is blocking the bike lane. Usually it's a pickup truck that doesn't fit. Today it was someone parked badly *and* blocking the bike lane. The picture attached is from the US Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration document here: https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/publications/research/safety/pedbike/05085/chapt15.cfm. The picture is figure 15-22. The text that goes with it says:
" Bike lanes are not usually placed next to diagonal parking. However, should diagonal parking be required on a street planned for bike lanes, the following recommendations can help decrease potential conflicts:
    - The parking bays must be long enough to accommodate most vehicles.
    - A 200-mm (8-in) stripe should separate the parking area from the bike lane (see figure 15-22).
    - Enforcement may be needed to cite or remove vehicles encroaching on the bike lane."

The city should add the 8" stripe as recommended and ticket motorists that park blocking the bike lane.

I think there was supposed to be a pile of sand/salt at this location (Leslie Park) for people to use for sidewalks. I just went by to get some. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there. I did find a colossal pile of pea gravel, but nothing that looked like sand with salt in it.

This is a problem with a city GIS entry. Facility ID NM-01841 is a part of the City-designated bike route going down Skydale, Hilldale, and from there through neighborhoods to Broadway. This section connects NM-00279 to NM-00276. The entry for this section says it's "Nature Trail". That is incorrect. It is asphalt, and has been probably since the 1970s. (It's there in the 1979 aerial photo.)

It's just after noon, Saturday August 5th. I just heard the emergency warning sirens conduct monthly test soundings, but the one in the boulevard entrance to my neighborhood did not sound. I mostly heard the sirens to the north, so maybe this was just the township doing a test. Please ignore this report if our siren wasn't supposed to do a test.

The location is approximately directly across Plymouth from Penske rental. I can't be more specific, but you'll see it when you know to look for it. This is the south side of Plymouth, the inside of the curve. There's a lot hanging down into the sidewalk, but in particular, there are a couple of obviously dead branches. Turns out, those are the top of a pretty big box elder that broke in the recent storm, crushed the fence behind Broadview Apartments, and is now dangling a bit dangerously over the sidewalk.

A section of street lights on the SE side of the Broadway Bridges is out. There are lights on both sides of the Broadway Bridges - the NW side lights are on normally. About eight lights on the section over the railroad tracks are out. There is a sign for Broadway Park visible from the road. The light just west of that sign, about 40' away, is on. But the lights on that side of the bridge, headed toward town are all out until approximately where Division meets Broadway.

The south side of Plymouth (inside of the curve) sidewalk looks pretty untouched since the last snow storm (again). It looks barely usable. I reported this same location earlier, and today that request was closed, which is ironic because this morning I went by and thought "geez, it's full of ice and snow". I do believe that it was cleared at one point in the past week, but it's almost as bad now as when I reported it earlier.

Also, where's the "uncleared snow and ice" option for the "sidewalk issue" drop down?

The south side of Plymouth (inside of the curve) sidewalk looks pretty untouched since the last snow storm. It looks completely unusable. I understand that there's a lot to do right now for city crews, but it seems like pedestrian safety should be a little higher priority than this.

The picture is of the streetlight directly across Plymouth from KeyBank. If the streetlight were working, which it isn't, yet again, you'd see a streetlight in the picture. But it's at night, and there's no streetlight working, so not a great picture.

The RRFB near Willowtree Apartments is supposed to do like all of the others do, and give an audible signal that the lights are flashing. The others on Plymouth say something like "Lights are flashing". This one doesn't give any indication at all that anything has happened. You push the button, and it does the same beep it always does, for the visually impaired to find the button. But you have no way of knowing if the lights are flashing unless it's dark and you can see the light. During the day, you have to guess that it must be flashing because cars are stopping. Could someone put the audible signal back?

This is the pole at the north west corner of Nixon/Dhu Varren. This pole has clearly been hit recently. It's not "broken", but it's definitely at an angle from getting hit.

Three of the streetlights from about Devon Circle to the entrance of the office complex by KeyBank were partly out tonight. I was going by quite fast on my bike, so I can't be precise about which ones. I recall it as the one north of Devon Circle was flashing, the one just north of the office park was out, and the one north of that was also flashing.

I want to be clear that you should expect to send someone to verify these reports. I'm doing the best I can by reporting them. I'm biking home in the dark, and need to pay attention to the road, not stop and try to take pictures of streetlights in the dark. You should have someone on staff that can check on light reports like this.

Streetlight across the street from the Islamic Center. This is *not* at the crosswalk, but the first light on the South side of Plymouth, east of the crosswalk. It's probably 50' to 100' east of the crosswalk. The question below asks if the pole is wood or metal, and I don't think it's either. I think it's fiberglass painted black. But it's definitely not wood.

Barton Dr & Pontiac Trl Ann Arbor, MI, 48105, USA - Ann Arbor
Do you realize that signals of this type penalize people obeying the speed limit? I almost always get a new red light at this signal when I'm driving, and I've finally realized why. When you're one of the fairly rare people not speeding here, a gap opens in front of you, as the people ahead are substantially speeding. The signal detects the gap, and most of the time, triggers the light to change, just as someone like me, obeying the speed limit, gets to it. This wasn't a problem with the older signal here, which was timed. I've tried doing ten or more over, and usually get a green light in that situation. Does anyone at the city consider how often they put in signal systems that encourage speeding like this?

The bike lane on the north side of Barton is not being maintained at all. Weeds have grown into it, there's debris blocking most of its width, the city has had a sign blocking it in one spot for at least a month, and motorists nearly constantly drive in it to speed going around the curve. It's illegal for them to drive in it at all. Could you please do something to clear the junk out of it and *anything* to keep the motorists out?

Last night (8/21) I biked to a night appt at the main hospital. There where three lights out. The light on the median just east of the intersection was out. Both lights on the Maiden Lane bridge were also out. The answers below are for the intersection light (note, both lights on the south side of the intersection were working), but I think the answers are the same for all of them. I answered metal for the poles because they're not wood.

Not enough bike parking at Farmer's Market. The city usually puts in some on-street bike parking corrals, but I haven't seen any of them this year. Yes, I'm aware that there "isn't enough car parking either", but we have two transportation A2Zero goals - to increase bike use to 25% of in-town trips, and reduce car use by 50% (VMT), by 2030. The city *should* be working toward both goals by significantly increasing bike parking and decreasing car parking in the market area during the market season. Certainly you should keep some handicap parking spots, but you should be converting other car parking spots to bike parking for the warmer months in line with our A2Zero goals, until there are excess bike parking spots.

These trees need to be pruned up and back from the sidewalk. I'm 5'9" and I have to duck. The couple in the picture are moving to the edge of the sidewalk to go under them, and they were a shorter Asian couple.
