The signal timing at the Highland/Willow intersection is terrible for pedestrians. There's a dedicated pedestrian walk phase, but it is quite short, and takes a full cycle of the signal before it will activate. This makes crossing diagonally a 2+ minute process — no wonder everyone jaywalks here!

The signal should be changed so that the walk signals are on when the corresponding green is on. There's no reason to have a dedicated ped phase here.

Several large potholes opened up here in the northbound travel lane. Many of them go all the way down to the cobblestone.

There is a large pothole in the intersection here. It is quite deep.

There are several large potholes on the southbound side of Webster, between Elm and Cambridge. They seem to have gotten worse recently, and are now dangerous for road users.

There is an EXTREMELY dangerous open hole in the street, which looks like a road repair which was simply left unpaved. It is definitely enough to cause an accident, and must be fixed ASAP!

It is about 5' x 3', and maybe 6' deep in places. It is filled with gravel, which is spilling out into the street by passing cars.

The whole first block of Webster out of Union Square is terribly potholed. It seems like the entire right side of the street is just a disintegrating mess of old patch jobs. In some places, the potholes are so deep that you can see the cobblestones underneath. Bikes are left with the dubious choice of taking the whole travel lane during rush hour, or staying and riding over the potholes, trying not to be thrown off their bikes.

These potholes are fairly deep; enough so to do some damage, especially to a bike.

This deep pothole is about 2 sq ft.

There's no bike markers for the traffic sensing loops at this intersection, so I can be stuck for minutes trying to make a left turn, waiting for something large and metallic to come along and change the signal for me.

As I ride over this pothole, I'm filled with a sense of appreciation for those who came before us, as their hand-laid cobblestones are once again put to use. As I glance up and see the flag flying on prospect hill, where the first American flag flew, I wonder which is older, the flag, or the now-revealed roadway?
