Dangerously neglected playground Archived2001 3rd Avenue Richmond, Virginia - Highland Park Southern TipThe Third Ave Tot Lot playground is in a dangerous state of neglect and disrepair. We visited yesterday, April 10, 2017 and noted the following problems: Rusted, cracked play structure; litter everywhere, including cigarette butts; a large tree branch on the ground; broken fence; missing gate; weeds; full trash cans; cracked swings; missing sand/mulch making play equipment too high off the ground; and weeds and grass clippings left on the ground. Why is this playground neglected when other Richmond City Tot Lots are taken care of?

Crosswalk or traffic signal needed Acknowledged498 East Brookland Park Boulevard Richmond, Virginia - Brookland ParkThere is a pedestrian trail parallel to Richmond Henrico Turnpike here at the intersection with Brookland Park Blvd. It is very difficult to see oncoming traffic moving West on Brookland Park Blvd. when crossing north/south on the trail. The pavement is marked to indicate bike/pedestrian crossing, but there needs to be at minimum a crosswalk and ideally a flashing yellow light and/or a four-way stop to accommodate the trail traffic. It is scary crossing this intersection with my baby in a stroller--we have to run since there is very little visibility!
