On the western side of Forest Rd near the intersection with Cleveland Rd, there is a tree with its roots partially pulling out of the ground, and leaning precariously toward a transformer and power lines. I posted under tree trimming on 11.17 with no response. Please advise!! Is this a utility issue? Thanks.

This tree is leaning very closely to wires, and it's roots are partially out of the ground. If it falls, it may take down the wires, affecting the area. Not sure what kind of wires, but this can't be good!

The area of Westville between Alston, Central, Edgewood and Chapel Streets is very frequently hit with power outages - even more so than the rest of Westville. And it's been getting worse.

Anecdotally, I've spoken to people who've lived here for more than 30 years and say this section of our neighborhood has always been dark when weather hits. However we've been experiencing more frequent non-weather outages lately. Overnight, a few times a month, there will be short 10-15 minute outages.

Neighbors - can I ask you to please share your experiences with the outages in the comments here? Have they been getting worse for you lately? I've spoken to Alderman Marchand and he's willing to raise this issue higher if we have some useful details to share.

Possible solutions include having this area prioritized in UI's current plan to upgrade the neighborhood, or adding another feed line into this section of the grid. If you have other suggestions, please share!

Thank you! Sue U.M. // Westvillian

Recently filled potholes have lost a good deal of gravel due to hard rain in the last week. Can they be please re-filled?

The signs on the SW corner of Westwood and Central are nearly falling off their pole.

Two very deep holes have shown up next to one another at the intersection of Fountain / Alden / Harrison, in the eastbound lane of Fountain right before the traffic light. There is additional buckling to its right. Very deep and practically impossible to avoid!
  • 266-298 Central Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Westville

A (city?) tree in this location has bush-like branches growing from its base, making it impossible for drivers approaching the intersection to see southbound traffic on Central.

If it could be trimmed at its base, the intersection would be far safer!

Wires down on sidewalk at 253 Alden in front of stores.
  • 32-42 Philip Street New Haven, Connecticut - Westville

This very deep pothole is along Beecher park, right alongside the edge of the road. The hole is across from 41 Philip and right next to the large tree stump.

It's approximately a foot deep, and someone parking along the edge of the road can easily miss seeing it (as I did!) and end up driving directly into it, bottoming out the car. There are several large gouges that prove this has happened several times.

A large quantity of household furniture and other big items has been dumped in the parking lot of this nature center. (Mattresses, etc.)

A deer was apparently hit and killed in the middle of this block. It is in the gutter on the north side of the road across from 162 Westwood.

Plowing has not reached the sides of the road ... there is still snow reaching into the road as far as 5 feet. This means we still cannot pass each other on the road unless we pull into the edges of driveways. Many houses on this street do not have adequate parking, so cars parked on the street create more difficulty driving as well as leaving driveways. A similar cleanup as the one done on Elizabeth Ann earlier this week would be very appreciated.
