When Poplar was repaved 2 summers ago, it was left as dirt for a month while the deluge of rain occurred that we had during that June/July. The survey team came prior to the rainfall and then during the deluge, much of the road substrate was washed away. As soon as the rain subsided, they slapped the new blacktop down and now there is a 2 to 3 inch gap up to everybody's driveway. More importantly, the storm water drain that sits at the junction of poplar and park, is now dramatically uphill from poplar st. Water accumulates like crazy at the corner and pedestrians have to wade through often as much as 10 inches of water to cross poplar. The problem is worst after a warm snow and rain. If a freeze occurs, the trapped frozen pond becomes a real hazard for vehicles attempting to stop. I've reported the issue several times and the public works folks came by and looked at it at one point. They brought the street sweeper once to clean up the debris. None of this will solve the issue that was created by the negligent contractors who did a shoddy job by not resurveying after the heavy rains during their paving.
