    Becket St & Derby St Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem

    On 10/2/2020 we were driving by this intersection and t-boned.  There are stop signs and arrows to go left on Beckett St and on the other side of Derby Street double signage).

    With this much signage it appears that this intersection is a problem intersection.  Time to look at traffic calming for this intersection.

    We were within the speed limit for Derby St and the driver coming out of Becket Street was turning right (to go where?  Don't know--possibly cross to Blaney St???)

    Our vehicle was totalled (yes, it was totalled--unbelievable for Derby Street? I agree) and we are continuing to see doctors for medical issues excarcabated from the crash. 

    Evidently signage at this intersection is NOT WORKING. Time to look at a traffic calming solution to stop drivers from turning right.

    I have notified the Ward Councilor as he has not responsed to the email I want it on record that within the lasts 2 weeks we AGAIN have had 2 near head-ons on Fort Avenue as we are going to WI. It appears that the double yellow lines are not bright enough for cars traveling to downtown to see and they cross the yellow line into oncoming traffic. This needs to be taken care of before a collision occurs.

    The yard and front landing are filled with yard waste bags which continue to be a health hazard. In front of the home are 2 unregistered vehicles which have been there for over 2 years. This yard/home needs to be cleaned up as it is both a health and fire hazard

    Salem cut down a dead tree about 6 weeks ago and a portion of the trunk and debris is still on the street. Isn't it time that the tree was removed and the street cleared.
