  • 46 Whitney Ave New Haven Ct - Downtown

At 9:30pm on Tuesday, May 24, there were two New Haven FD trucks idling with full lights flashing on Whitney Ave in front of the good nature market. My initial concern about the area turned to frustration and anger when, after squeezing through the one remaining lane of traffic of traffic, it became clear that the 'emergency' of the evening was heading to the market for some snacks.

While I certainly understand that on duty firefighters need to eat, I cannot understand why in the process they should create traffic hazards and consume fuel (paid for by our tax dollars). Maybe we wouldn't have to fight for resources for our libraries and parks if we didn't have folks like this who show no interest in watching how they spend our money. (and even beyond the idling, does it take 2 trucks to make an ice cream run?)

  • 74 Canner Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock

The small shop on the corner of Orange and Canner has a sign left over from the previous owners that has slowly broken or been damaged to the point where there is very little left of the sign other than some fluorescent bulbs. There has to be a low cost solution to make this better looking and safer.

  • 883 Orange Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
bad programming on this traffic light. There is a pedestrian walk signal in the cycle at all times. There is no need for a 30 second walk cycle at 1am.
  • Willow Street New Haven, Connecticut - Cedar Hill
two consecutive street lamps out on this ramp - right before a very sharp turn. This is both inconvenient and dangerous
  • East Rock Road New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
Although the East Rock Rd bridge has now been open for a couple of weeks, the nearby streets and trails continue to be littered with dozens of orange detour and bridge closed signs. These are unsightly, but more importantly, they now provide false information to drivers and create unnatural traffic problems that do not need to occur
  • 83 E Rock Rd New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
Once again, snowfall leads to plow jobs that leave large piles of snow at the intersection. This time, it is 15 feet from the curb at everit and east rock making a right turn difficult and dangerous. This isn't a forgotten spot - it was somehow done this way ON PURPOSE! Is it somehow the goal of city government to endanger their citizens?
